Darry Worthington previews the 2020 Tuscan Grand Prix which is being raced at the Mugello Circuit on Sunday the 13th of September.

This Sunday will see yet another race out in Italy with the Mugello Circuit making its debut on the F1 calendar. The Tuscany track is being touted as one of the quickest on this year's circuit and could offer some great racing. If it can provide half the drama Monza did last weekend then we're in for a treat.

Well, that was a turn out for the books at Monza, wasn't it? A podium of Pierre Gasly (first), Carlos Sainz (second) and Lance Stroll (third) was the shining beacon on race packed with incidents.
So how did these three men take the podium spoils ahead of the likes of Hamilton, Bottas and Verstappen? Well, Hamilton and his Mercedes team made a major error as they tried to bring the car into the pits while the safety card was in play. This resulted in the 'Brit facing a time penalty which saw him drop right down the field and finish the race in seventh.
Bottas managed to salvage some pride for Mercedes as he finished fifth. The Finn could have been higher up the standings had he not had such a poor start to the race.
Verstappen was unable to complete the race as he suffered a power unit issue and was forced to retire on lap 31.
With the big guns out of the running and the two Ferraris retired, there was plenty of space for the lesser teams to land some points.
That was the case for McLaren with Lando Norris joining second-placed Carlos Sainz in the top 6. Another team who prospered from the chaos was Renault with Daniel Ricciardo taking fifth and Esteban Ocon taking eighth.
The final two places in the points positions went to Daniil Kvyat (ninth) and Sergio Perez (tenth)
Track
This weekend will see the debut of the Mugello circuit on the F1 calendar. The track is no stranger to F1, however, as pre-season testing was held their back in 2012 while Ferrari uses it annually as one of their testing sites.
It seems the track will produce some decent racing as it was endorsed in the past with Mark Weber and Sebastian Vettel both lavishing praise on the track. Weber recently stated that "Did 10 dry laps today around Mugello, which is the same as doing 1000 laps around Abu Dhabi track in terms of satisfaction". Weber also alluded to the track's quick nature by saying "necks are going to snap in half".
The track which started out as a street circuit before becoming a compound measures 5.24 kilometres and features 15 turns and a massive straight that intersects the start-finish line. We could get some real wheel to wheel racing down this 1.141 kilometre straight.
The weather for this weekend looks rather promising with only a bit of drizzle being forecast throughout the weekend.
Value Bet
To Win Race Outright - Max Verstappen @ 5/1
I've combined the value bet and race winner tip for this weekend as I reckon I've found some good value on a certain Red Bull man to win the race.
I like Verstappen's chances here. The Red Bull may not be as quick as the Mercedes but I think with the circuit being rather quick in nature the Silver Arrows may struggle with tire degradation.
Verstappen's style of driving - gutsy but far more calculated than he was at the start of his career - could well see him dominate. He's certainly worth a crack at 5/1.
