Neil Morrice brings you all of his best bets and tips for Tuesday's racing coming your way from Huntingdon, Taunton, and Wetherby.
HUNTINGDON
Race 1 No4 KAKAMORA (Nap)
Trainer: Tom George - Jockey: Jonathan Burke
KAKAMORA finished second in successive novice hurdles at Ludlow before Christmas, form that is there to be built on as he comes back from a mid season break. He has more scope for improvement than market rival Chasamax, and should convert on the way to better things.
Race 3 No5 WISECRACKER (Each Way)
Trainer: Ben Case - Jockey: Bryony Frost
It’s always hard to get WISECRACKER out of the money, and the gelding should again be in the thick of things at the business end of this handicap chase. Interestingly this is his first visit to Huntingdon, a flat easy course that should prove ideal for his style of racing.
TAUNTON
Race 3 No4 VUE CAVALIERE
Trainer: Suzie Smith - Jockey: M Nolan
If ready after a six month break, VUE CAVALIERE can make his mark in this handicap hurdle. The hooded mare placed on both starts last autumn and looks the type to do well on the better ground she will encounter through the back end of the season.
Race 4 No4 JOHN CONSTABLE (Nap)
Trainer: Evan Williams - Jockey: Isabel Williams
Copperless might have been harshly treated for a first run in a handicap, in which case JOHN CONSTABLE looks a viable alternative. He’s another that is far happier on the better ground prevalent today, and caught the eye with an earning run in his return from a break at Exeter earlier in the month.
WETHERBY
Race 3 No1 MESSIRE DES OBEAUX (Nap)
Trainer: Alan King - Jockey: Daryl Jacob
MESSIRE DES OBEAUX looked a top recruit to fences until having his feathers ruffled when only fourth to Sporting John in the Scilly Isles Novices’ Chase at Sandown. He now finds himself in calmer waters, having intentionally been held back from Cheltenham. If getting his career back on track he could head for a race at Aintree next month.
Race 4 No6 LESSER
Trainer: Richard Phillips - Jockey: Daniel Hiskett
LESSER has impressed in a point and a bumper, and can successfully defend his unbeaten record in this novices’ hurdle. He’s by the upwardly mobile sire Stowaway that can put its best foot forward on debut over jumps.
Race 8 No6 HILLCREST
Trainer: Henry Daly - Jockey: Brian Hughes
Pipped in the final stride on debut at Doncaster in January, HILLCREST should be a bet worth waiting for in the concluding bumper. The Stowaway gelding faces stern opposition from Harper’s Brook, but it will take something decent to stop him.
