Round three of the EPL get underway on the 26th of August. Find out what's worth backing.
After two rounds played in the Premier League, Manchester United are the only big team to have taken six points, while Manchester City and Liverpool have picked up four with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham all on three. Gameweek three has some cracking matches lined up, with the highlight fixture being between Liverpool and Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday.
Saturday 26 August
Bournemouth 15/2 | Draw 9/2 | Manchester City 3/10 (13:30)
Manchester City will head to the Vitality Stadium to take on Bournemouth in the first match of the weekend. City are unbeaten in their six meetings against the Cherries with five wins, scoring 17 goals while conceding twice.
Bournemouth are one of five teams yet to register a point in the new season, while they’ve also failed to find the back of the net – something Eddie Howe will look to change soon with his fast-paced attacking football. City dominated this fixture last season, winning 4-0 at the Etihad and 2-0 here at the Vitality.
Man City on the Halftime-Fulltime double seems the best bet here at 8/10.
Crystal Palace 19/20 | Draw 24/10 | Swansea 3/1 (16:00)
Crystal Palace face Swansea at Selhurst Park on Saturday with both teams still searching for their first win of the season. Frank de Boer’s side have suffered back-to-back defeats against Huddersfield and Liverpool, failing to find the net in both of those matches. Paul Clement’s side picked up a point away to Southampton before being thumped 4-0 at home by Manchester United.
Palace have failed to beat the Swans in the last two seasons. After drawing both meetings in the 2015/2016 campaign, the Welsh outfit completed the double over the Eagles last season, winning 2-1 in London before a thrilling 5-4 victory in South Wales.
I’m going for Swansea on the Win/Draw Double Chance at 8/10.
Huddersfield 26/10 | Draw 23/10 | Southampton 11/10 (16:00)
High-flyers Huddersfield welcome Swansea to the John Smith's Stadium on Saturday. The newcomers have made an impressive start in the top flight, winning back-to-back matches against Crystal Palace and Newcastle.
Southampton have picked up four points from their two matches played at St Mary's. After a goalless draw against Swansea, Mauricio Pellegrino’s side secured a late 3-2 victory over West Ham.
The Saints have some quality players in their team and I’m backing them to edge a hard-fought encounter.
Newcastle 5/4 | Draw 47/20 | West Ham 21/10 (16:00)
Newcastle host West Ham at St James' Park this Saturday with both sides seeking their first points of the season. Rafael Benitez’s side suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Tottenham and saw Jonjo Shelvey receive a straight red card, before losing 1-0 away to fellow newcomers Huddersfield.
Slaven Bilic’s men failed to bounce back from their heavy 4-0 loss at Manchester United, going down 3-2 at Southampton which saw record-signing Marko Arnautovic sent off.
The Hammers have so many top players in their team and I’m tipping them on the Win/Draw Double Chance at 6/10.
Watford 19/20 | Draw 24/10 | Brighton 3/1 (16:00)
Watford welcome newcomers Brighton to Vicarage Road on Saturday. Marco Silva’s side have looked very impressive in their opening two matches. After earning a 3-3 draw at home to Liverpool, the Hornets secured a 2-0 win at Bournemouth.
The Seagulls have had a difficult start to life in the top flight, suffering back-to-back defeats against Manchester City and Leicester City, both by 2-0 scorelines. Watford are unbeaten in their last five meetings against Brighton, winning three times.
The home win is tipped at 19/20.
Manchester Utd 3/10 | Draw 17/4 | Leicester City 17/2 (18:30)
Manchester United will entertain Leicester City in Saturday’s final match. Jose Mourinho’s side have begun the campaign in rampant fashion, beating both West Ham and Swansea by 4-0 scorelines.
Craig Shakespeare’s men were impressive away to Arsenal in their season opener, despite losing 4-3, and were very good in their 2-0 victory over Brighton last weekend.
However, United look unstoppable at the moment and they’re tipped to claim a fourth straight victory over the Foxes.
Sunday 27 August
Chelsea 4/10 | Draw 7/2 | Everton 13/2 (14:30)
Chelsea will welcome Everton to Stamford Bridge in Sunday’s opener. Antonio Conte's side bounced back from their shock home defeat against Burnley with a well-deserved 2-1 win over Tottenham at Wembley Stadium thanks to a brace from Marcos Alonso. Ronald Koeman's side come into this clash unbeaten, having held Manchester City to a credible 1-1 draw at the Etihad on Monday following their hard-fought 1-0 win against Stoke in the opening week.
Conte will be delighted to welcome back Cesc Fabregas from suspension, while Eden Hazard could return from injury. The Premier League champions completed the double over the Toffees last season. A thumping 5-0 win at Stamford Bridge followed with a 3-0 victory at Goodison Park.
It might not be so straightforward, but Chelsea are tipped to secure maximum points.
West Brom 14/10 | Draw 2/1 | Stoke City 43/20 (14:30)
West Brom and Stoke City will go head to head at the Hawthorns on Sunday. Tony Pulis’ men have won their opening two matches, beating Bournemouth and Burnley by 1-0 scorelines. The Potters succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at Everton in their opening game, but Mark Hughes' side bounced back in front of their fans by clinching a 1-0 victory over Arsenal.
West Brom are unbeaten in their last five matches against Stoke with four wins, including three in a row at the Hawthorns.
However, the Potters will be high on confidence and I’m backing them to earn a point.
Liverpool 23/20 | Draw 5/2 | Arsenal 23/10 (17:00)
Liverpool’s record against England’s biggest clubs will be put to the test once again when they host Arsenal this Sunday. The Reds dominated this fixture last season, winning at both the Emirates Stadium and at Anfield – a feat they hadn’t achieved since the 1999/2000 campaign.
Both clubs’ top player have made headlines in recent weeks, with Philippe Coutinho submitting a transfer request, while Alexis Sanchez has been linked with a move to some of the biggest names in Europe. From the top six sides, these two clubs have arguably the weakest defences, but at the same time, are a joy to watch going forward. If recent results are anything to go by, then we should be in for a cracking encounter!
Knowing Liverpool’s record against the top sides in England, and with the fact that they are playing at Anfield, I cannot see the Reds losing this one. Although, it won’t be so straightforward with Sanchez and Koscielny now back for Arsenal.
The Reds have kept just one clean sheet against Arsenal in their last 12 meetings, and for that reason, I’m backing them on the Win/Draw Double Chance & Both Teams to Score at even money.
Tottenham 1/4 | Draw 47/10 | Burnley 11/1 (17:00)
Tottenham will look to end their Wembley hoodoo when they host Burnley in the final fixture of the round. Mauricio Pochettino’s side failed to build on their opening day win over Newcastle as they fell to a late 2-1 defeat against Chelsea last weekend.
Burnley, who recorded a shocking 3-2 win away to the champions, went down 1-0 at home to West Brom. Sean Dyche will be hoping to add to Spurs’ Wembley woes, but Pochettino’s side have enough quality to bounce back.
Tottenham completed the double over Burnley last season and with Harry Kane desperate to end his August goal drought, back the home win.
TREBLE TIPPED @ 13/2
Watford Win 19/20
Man United Win 3/10
West Brom v Stoke Draw 2/1
