The Kings face yet another daunting Pro 14 assignment as they tackle Welsh region, the Ospreys, on Friday the 16th of February.
With the Six Nations taking its customary bye, attention shifts back to club rugby action this week. In the Guinness Pro14, both Ospreys and the Kings will look to improve on what have been two abysmal campaigns so far by one-upping the other at the Liberty Stadium on Friday.

Ospreys
Boy oh boy, have the Ospreys struggled this term. The men from Swansea have recorded just four wins from their fourteen matches to date and currently sit just four points ahead of the last-placed Zebre in Conference A. Indeed, so poor have their performances been that it was announced in January that forwards coach Allen Clarke would take over the role of departing head coach Steve Tandy, in an attempt to end their slump and get back to winning ways.
There haven’t been too many worse than Ospreys this season but, luckily for them, they host the Kings this weekend; a side yet to win a single game. Beating their South African counterparts really should be par for the course for the Welshmen, especially playing at home. Ospreys will go for the jugular this weekend as they look to work some pride back into their play and remind their supporters that they are far from a dying brand.
Kings
The Kings were always going to struggle in their inaugural Pro14 season – especially considering the mass exodus of players they experienced following last year’s Super Rugby season - but few could have suggested that they would still be winless after 14 rounds of matches. Deon Davids’ side have come close on a number of occasions, not least against the Scarlets (30-34), Ulster (36-43) and the Cheetahs (20-21) but have ultimately succumbed on each occasion.
The Ospreys fixture will be just the second time the Kings play on Welsh soil (the first coming in a 29-13 loss to the Dragons in September), and, again, they will be regarded as firm underdogs. With cold, dry conditions expected, the Kings may again look to throw the ball around in pursuit of their proposed offloading game, but it would come as a great surprise if they managed to finally get over the line this Friday.
Verdict: Ospreys 1/33
The Ospreys will have a point to prove following their coaching shake-up, and I’m banking on them securing a win at home this Friday.
