Following the previous weekend's 49-0 mauling of Clermont Auvergne, Fabien Galthie's Toulon travelled to Racing Metro 92 full of vim and vigour. And although his side ultimately went down 17-13, Galthie will be pleased with the performance and picking up a what could prove to be a vital losing bonus point.
Toulon currently lie fourth on the standings, two points clear of fifth-placed and a further point clear of sixth-placed La Rochelle and seventh-placed Lyon. As such, they are in dire need of picking up points this weekend. That will be easier said than done as they host a Montpellier side who have won three of their last four fixtures.
Montpellier
The current log-leaders find themselves in a very handy position heading into the final stretch of the regular season, six points clear of second-placed Racing and a further four points clear of third-placed Toulouse. A victory here may just guarantee them a home semi-final with Toulouse set to take on Racing this weekend.
As I touched on earlier, Montpellier have been on a fine run of form of late - winning three of their last four and seven of their last nine. They've managed to claim some big scalps along the way beating Racing Metro 41-3, Castres 45-7, and most recently La Rochelle 40-24.
Verdict: Montpellier 39/10
Montpellier won the reverse tie 43-20. And while this game is likely to be a lot tighter, I fancy the visitors to do the double over Toulon.
