Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips for Wednesday's racing taking place at Lingfield, Ayr, and Newton Abbot.
LINGFIELD
Race 3: No6 - NASH NASHA (Nap)
Trainer: Charlie Appleby - Jockey: William Buick
The impeccably-bred
NASH NASHA left the cash behind on her Newmarket introduction but should make no mistake this time. The daughter of Dubawi and Classic winning filly Just The Judge couldn’t cope with Wedding Dance on that occasion but has learned bundles from the experience judging by her pleasing homework.
Race 6: No3 - SWEET CHARITY
Trainer: Denis Coakley - Jockey: Oisin Murphy
SWEET CHARITY did us a favour with her win at Windsor and is in the mood to keep up the good work. She did herself a favour by not winning as far as it looked when cruising up to the coat tails of the leaders. In fact, the verdict was a mere nose, but it means the handicapper has given her a real chance to post a follow-up triumph.
Race 8: No6 - HASTY SAILOR (Each Way)
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute - Jockey: Pat Dobbs
HASTY SAILOR was beaten nine lengths into fifth on debut at Windsor without being given a hard time. The sympathetic handling from his jockey can manifest itself in a much-improved effort in this maiden. He’s going to relish the step up to a mile and a half and looks a value each-way play.
AYR
Race 5: No9 - PROCLAIMER (Nap)
Trainer: Julie Camacho - Jockey: Callum Rodriguez
As one of the least exposed contenders for this all-aged handicap
PROCLAIMER has plenty to recommend him. His eye taking third on comeback at Haydock shows he’s in the zone to follow-up a Newcastle triumph before Christmas. This track, the trip, and ground all appear right for him.
Race 7: No5 - TOMBOLO (Each Way)
Trainer: Michael Dods - Jockey: D Nolan
TOMBOLO cost six figures as a yearling and importantly now gets the longer trip he’s been searching for. The son of much sought after stallion Le Havre has run well on all three career starts ahead of this handicap bow and can halt the winning sequence of lowly weighted Alpine Mistral.
NEWTON ABBOT
Race 1: No1 - TEMPLEPARK (Nap)
Trainer: Fergal O’Brien - Jockey: Max Kendrick
A switch to hurdling worked a treat for
TEMPLEPARK when he scored over this course and distance last month. He landed the odds without coming off the bridle that day and should have no issues returning to fences, over which he’s twice delivered previously. He should have too many guns for Bob Pebble.
Race 3: No9 - ROBIN DE BROOME
Trainer: Sean Curran - Jockey: Gavin Sheehan
ROBIN DE BROOME can have a say in this competitive race on just a third start for Curran. He was ambitiously campaigned on his latest start in a jumper/bumper at Wolverhampton when failing to cut the mustard back in February, but is now back in his comfort zone and should take home a cheque.
Race 8: No1 - ULTIMATE GETAWAY
Trainer: Fergal O’Brien - Jockey: Liam Harrison
The O’Brien stable has made a solid start to the season, with
ULTIMATE GETAWAY posting Bumper successes at Southwell and Market Rasen last month. He’s burdened with a double penalty, although this is alleviated by his conditional jockey’s 7lb claim. The combination can prove too strong for Courtland.
