Our EPL writer takes an in-depth look at round 27 of the 2016/17 campaign.
There are just 12 rounds to go in the Premier League with all to play for at the top and the bottom. Arsenal return to action to face Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday in the biggest fixture of gameweek 27, but we can expect plenty of excitement from the other matches as well.
Saturday 4 March
Man United 1/4 | Draw 47/10 | Bournemouth 10/1
Manchester United were crowned EFL Cup champions after they beat Southampton 3-2 at Wembley Stadium last weekend thanks to Jesse Lingard's clinical finish and brace from Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The result extended United’s unbeaten run to eight matches with seven wins, including six on the spin.
Bournemouth succumbed to a 2-1 loss at West Brom, their fourth consecutive league defeat, despite taking an early lead from Josh King’s spot-kick. The Cherries are winless in eight matches with manager Eddie Howe under mounting pressure.
The home win is a banker and should be included in all multiple bets.
Leicester City 8/10 | Draw 49/20 | Hull City 34/10
Jamie Vardy scored twice as a revitalised Leicester City started life without sacked manager Claudio Ranieri by sinking Liverpool 3-1 on Monday to spark their Premier League survival hopes. The Foxes had gone into the clash winless in six matches with five consecutive losses, shipping 12 goals without finding the net.
After an impressive performance against the Reds, Leicester will be hoping to build on that result. Hull City will be hoping to return to winning ways after drawing 1-1 at home to Burnley. The Tigers are winless in their last 11 away matches with 10 defeats, scoring just once while conceding 22 times.
Back the home win at 8/10 money.
Stoke 19/20 | Draw 22/10 | Middlesbrough 31/10
Stoke were thrashed 4-0 at White Hart Lane by a rampant Tottenham side, courtesy of a hat-trick from Harry Kane. The Potters will be happy to return to the bet365 Stadium where they are unbeaten in seven matches in the Premier League. Although they’ve only managed to win three of those matches, they’ve been very tough to beat.
Middlesbrough suffered a 1-0 defeat away to Crystal Palace, extending their winless streak to nine matches in the league. Their winless streak on the road stretches even further with their last away win coming in their first away game this season.
The Win/Draw Double Chance doesn’t offer much value at 2/9, so i'd suggest you stay away from this one.
Swansea 19/20 | Draw 47/20 | Burnley 28/10
Swansea were beaten 3-1 by a clinical Chelsea side who look like romping to the Premier League title. Paul Clement will be hoping his side bounce back strongly and secure a third consecutive victory at the Liberty Stadium. The Swans have won three of their last five matches, losing to giants Man City and Chelsea in the process.
Burnley collected only their second away point of the season by recording a 1-1 draw at Hull last Saturday, with Michael Keane equalising to cancel out an unfortunate penalty he had given away at the other end for handball.
Swansea have been impressive under Clement and I’m backing them to secure maximum points at 19/20.
Watford 5/2 | Draw 22/10 | Southampton 11/10
Watford come into this fixture off a 1-1 draw at home to West Ham. Troy Deeney gave Walter Mazzarri's side the lead with a third-minute penalty but Andrew Ayew equalized late on to earn a share of the spoils. Deeney's spot-kick was his fourth goal in his past five games and Watford's only shot on target in the entire match.
The Hornets will need to improve against Southampton this Saturday. Claude Puel’s side will be aiming to bounce back from their 3-2 defeat against Man United in the EFL Cup final last weekend. The Saints have lost four of their last five matches and will rely on in-form striker Manolo Gabbiadini, who has scored five goals in his three games played.
I’m going for Both Teams to Score at 19/20.
West Brom 11/10 | Draw 43/20 | Crystal Palace 26/10
West Brom recorded a 2-0 win over Bournemouth thanks to goals from Craig Dawson and Gareth McAuley, ensuring the Baggies hit 40 points with their seventh win in eight home games. Tony Pulis’ men will be aiming to continue their impressive home form as they look to complete the double over Palace, having won the reverse fixture 1-0 in August.
Sam Allardyce’s side secured a vital win over Middlesbrough thanks to a goal from new signing Patrick van Aanholt. The result saw Palace temporarily come out of the relegation zone for the first time since January, before Leicester’s 3-1 win over Liverpool.
The Eagles are back in the drop zone and look like staying there as I think the hosts will win comfortably.
Liverpool 1/1 | Draw 5/2 | Arsenal 49/20
The biggest match in gameweek 20 of the Premier League will see Liverpool host Arsenal on Saturday in what could well be a high-scoring game, with the Gunners seeking revenge after Jurgen Klopp's side won 4-3 at the Emirates on the opening day of the season. Liverpool are currently fifth in the Premier League, a point below fourth-placed Arsenal. This clash could be pivotal to Champions League qualification.

Liverpool will be hoping to bounce back strongly from their 3-1 defeat against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Monday. Jurgen Klopp's side - who would have climbed to third with a victory - have lost five of their past seven matches in all competitions. Arsenal’s last Premier League game saw them collect maximum points against Hull City at the Emirates Stadium thanks to a brace from Alexis Sanchez. But prior to that, they had lost back-to-back matches against Watford and Chelsea, which ultimately ended their hopes of lifting the league trophy.
Both teams thrive on attacking football, which should result in goals.
These sides have drawn their last two meetings at Anfield and I’m expecting them to share the spoils once again.
Sunday 5 March
Tottenham 6/10 | Draw 28/10 | Everton 17/4
Tottenham put Stoke to the sword last Sunday as a hat-trick from Harry Kane and tap-in from Dele Alli gave Mauricio Pochettino’s side a 4-0 win at White Hart Lane. While it was a marvellous performance for Spurs, fans could be worried with the injury to Toby Alderweireld. The Belgium international defender started the match, but he had to be substituted in the 49th minute due to a groin injury.
You’d certainly want your best defender marking Romelu Lukaku who took his goal tally to 17 by getting on the scoresheet in Everton’s 2-0 win over Sunderland last weekend. The Toffees are unbeaten in six matches with four wins.
I’m backing Both Teams to Score at 15/20.
Sunderland 8/1 | Draw 47/10 | Man City 1/4
Sunderland remain bottom of the table after their 2-0 defeat at seventh-placed Everton. The Black Cats have won just once in their last 11 matches in all competitions, losing seven times – including two on the bounce.
Manchester City, who weren’t in action last weekend, are riding a three-match winning streak in the Premier League having scored eight goals and conceding once. Pep Guardiola’s side are unbeaten in their last eight meetings against Sunderland, winning seven times.
Back City on the (-1) Handicap at 13/20.
Monday 6 March
West Ham 9/2 | Draw 3/1 | Chelsea 11/20
Andre Ayew climbed off the bench to rescue a point for West Ham in a 1-1 draw at Watford. Slaven Bilic’s side had to see out the final five minutes of the game with 10 men after Michail Antonio was sent off for a handball. His loss will come as a huge blow as the Hammers face Chelsea at the London Stadium.
The Hammers have won just once in their last five home matches, suffering three defeats. Antonio Conte’s team continued their excellent form in the Premier League, following a 3-1 victory over Swansea City at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are unbeaten in nine matches in all competitions, winning seven times.
Although I’m expecting a tight affair, the Blues are tipped to come away with all three points.
TREBLE @ 36/10
Watford vs Southampton BTTS 19/20
West Brom Win 11/20
Chelsea Win 11/20
