Our EPL writer previews round 36 of the 2016/17 season.
Premier League leaders Chelsea are four points ahead of Tottenham, with Antonio Conte’s side three wins short of claiming the title. Three of their four remaining games will be played at Stamford Bridge which gives them a huge advantage.
Liverpool are in third spot, four points above fifth-placed Manchester United – after they, Man City and Arsenal all failed to win this past weekend. Sunderland became the first team relegated to the Championship this season when they lost to Bournemouth last Saturday.
Friday 5 May
West Ham 6/1 | Draw 37/10 | Tottenham 4/10
West Ham are unbeaten in their last two matches at home, however, they’ve won just once in their last six matches at the London Stadium, suffering three defeats. Tottenham’s 2-0 win over north London rivals Arsenal last Sunday was their ninth consecutive victory in the Premier League.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are riding a three-match winning streak away from home, scoring six goals while conceding just once in the process. Spurs won the reverse tie 3-2 in November thanks to a late brace from Harry Kane.
The away win is tipped confidently.
Saturday 6 May
Manchester City 1/4 | Draw 5/1 | Crystal Palace 15/2
Manchester City will be looking to return to winning ways against Crystal Palace following back-to-back draws against Manchester United and Middlesbrough. Pep Guardiola’s side are unbeaten in their last nine matches at the Etihad Stadium, winning five times.
Crystal Palace are on a two-match losing streak, but they’ve won three of their last four away games, including wins at Chelsea and Liverpool. City have beaten Palace twice – both at Selhurst Park – this season, winning 2-1 in the league and 3-0 in the FA Cup.
Take City to Win & Both Teams to Score at 8/10.
Bournemouth 11/10 | Draw 24/10 | Stoke City 23/10
Bournemouth have won three of their last four matches at the Vitality Stadium, beating West Ham, Swansea and Middlesbrough, before losing to Chelsea. Stoke have been dreadful on their travels, having gone winless in their last six matches away from home.
They’ve suffered five defeats in that run (three on the spin) while failing to score a goal.
Nathan Ake, now at Chelsea, sealed a 1-0 win for the Cherries in November and Eddie Howe’s team are tipped to complete the double over Stoke.
Burnley 12/10 | Draw 43/20 | West Brom 24/10
Burnley recorded their first away win of the season, beating Crystal Palace 2-0 last Saturday and will hope to build on that result. Sean Dyche’s side seem to have lost their spark at Turf Moor, winning just once in their last five games there while suffering three defeats.
West Brom are on a four-match losing streak and are yet to win an away game this year, losing three out of six matches played. The Baggies ran out comfortable 4-0 winners when they met Burnley at the Hawthorns earlier this season.
But the teams are tipped to share the spoils this time at 43/20.
Hull City 9/20 | Draw 32/10 | Sunderland 57/10
Hull have been outstanding at the KCOM Stadium, having gone unbeaten in 10 matches with eight wins, including four on the bounce. Relegated Sunderland have lost 10 of their last 11 away matches, including four in a row where they’ve failed to score a goal.
Although the Black Cats won the reverse tie 3-0 at the Stadium of Light – one of their only five wins this season – the Tigers should prove too strong on their turf.
Leicester 11/20 | Draw 29/10 | Watford 9/2
Leicester are looking to extend their winning streak at the King Power Stadium to five games, while Watford will be hoping to snap a four-match losing streak on their travels. They’ve beaten Liverpool, Hull, Stoke and Sunderland in that run, scoring 10 goals and keeping back-to-back clean sheets.
The Hornets’ last four visits to Man United, Crystal Palace, Tottenham and Hull have all ended in defeats where they’ve failed to register a goal. Watford won 2-1 when the teams met earlier this season, although that was during the Foxes’ dreadful run.
Back the hosts to claim maximum points at 11/20.
Swansea 7/4 | Draw 23/10 | Everton 15/10
Swansea come into this match off a 1-1 draw away to Manchester United. Paul Clement’s side have been impressive at home, winning four of their last six matches – losing just once against Tottenham in the process.
Everton, who were beaten 3-0 at home to Chelsea last Sunday, are winless in their last six away matches, although they’ve only lost twice in that run. These sides cancelled each other out in the reverse tie, drawing 1-1 at Goodison Park.
I’m going for Both Teams to Score at 13/20.
Sunday 7 May
Liverpool 11/20 | Draw 31/10 | Southampton 17/4
Liverpool are winless in their last two matches at Anfield, drawing 2-2 with Bournemouth followed by a 2-1 defeat against Crystal Palace, courtesy of a brace from former striker Christian Benteke. Prior to those games, the Reds had won four in a row, beating Tottenham, Arsenal, Burnley and Everton.
Southampton have lost back-to-back away matches, although both defeats have come against Man City and Chelsea. Prior to that, the Saints were unbeaten in three games at St. Mary's Stadium, winning two on the spin.
These teams played to a goalless draw back in November, but the Reds are tipped to oust their opponents as they look to finish in the top four.
Arsenal 19/20 | Draw 49/20 | Manchester United 11/4
The chase for top four continues on Sunday as Arsenal host Manchester United. Both sides come off disappointing results last weekend, but a win here could boost some confidence in their respective camps for the last few weeks of the season.
As much as United haven’t been in the best of form this season, they have proved tough to beat under Mourinho. However, with the Red Devils’ injury crisis coming at the worst possible time, Arsenal should open the scoring.
Alexis Sanchez will be pushing for his 20th league goal this campaign and is tipped to Score First at a great price of 4/1 (look out for our Price Boosts and Specials). The Chilean has hurt United in the past and should come good.
Monday 8 May
Chelsea 2/13 | Draw 6/1 | Middlesbrough 15/1
Chelsea have been superb at Stamford Bridge this season, winning 14 of 16 matches, scoring 43 goals while shipping 13. Middlesbrough’s poor away form is a huge concern. They’re winless in 16 matches on the road, losing nine times, including two on the bounce (shipping four goals in each of those games).
Diego Costa scored the game’s only goal to give Chelsea the victory in what was a tight affair when the teams met in November. The same result is tipped here but the Blues should win quite comfortably as they close in on the Premier League trophy.
Take Chelsea to Win to Nil at 6/10.
TREBLE @ 7/2
Tottenham Win 4/10
Bournemouth Win 11/10
Leicester Win 11/20
