Honest Prince. The son of Kildonan continues to live up to his name and knock hard for his next win. He banked second cheque when getting to within 1,50 lengths of the classy favourite, Savea.
Small fields are the order of the day on the eight-race
Fairview polytrack programme that gets things under way at 13h05 on Monday.
Piazza Del Campo is proving something of a bridesmaid but we are giving her one more chance to shed her maiden when she runs in the first race. With solid course and distance experience, she should be able to hold the boys – the best of which could be the former Paul Reeves charge

A wide draw looks to be the only stumbling block between
Rule The World racking up a well-deserved hat-trick in the eight race. The son of Trippi is in prime form on the polytrack but the 12 draw will do his cause little good. Apprentice Julius Mphanya takes 2,5kg off his back though and the 1000m contest looks to provide the fireworks to bring the curtain down on the Fairview meet in exciting fashion.
Lyle Hewitson and trainer Sean Tarry could provide us with the best bet of the afternoon on the nine-race programme at the
Vaal on Tuesday. The power combo team up with the Curved Ball colt
Against The Grain in the fourth race. A decent showing in all his four starts – with two seconds – suggests that this fellow could relish the 1400m straight and get his first win on the board.
Mike de Kock’s stakes filly
Dagmar runs in an Assessment Plate in the fifth and she looks well treated for a big effort. Fitness will be the major concern though as she has not run for 16 weeks since her fourth placing behind Return Flight in the Gr1 Thekwini Stakes.
Kenilworth grabs the midweek billing on Wednesday and an attractive and competitive eight-race programme is offered.
Scratched from her last intended feature engagement, the undefeated Dynasty filly
Front And Centre, a Cape Fillies Guineas candidate, can win the fourth under Anton Marcus. Trainer Brett Crawford looks to have found the perfect race for his smart galloper – and the 1 draw won’t harm her chances.
The Dennis Drier team have commenced their Cape summer campaign with intent and Marcus is aboard their Greyville debut winner
Hard Core in the final race of the day. The son of Silvano really impressed when cruising in at soft odds and would not have made the cut for the Cape trip were he not highly regarded.

There is plenty of feature action next weekend with all eyes on the two
Cape Guineas stepping stone races on Saturday.
Down at
Kenilworth, the unbeaten
One World needs to show he is ready when he runs in the Concord Cup, while at Turffontein PE giantkiller National Park lines up in the Dingaans. These two classic pointer races always get the tongues wagging and the debate mill rolling.

He hasn’t really showed us much and as such we are hoping for a much improved run. Time is certainly running out for him. Wait for improvement before following this one.

He faced off against some quality sorts in a strong Assessment Plate last time out and that formline has been franked. He has been competitive since leaving the maidens and with a bit of luck in his favour he isn’t too far away from adding to that winning tally. He comes into this race a fit, happy horse and with his regular pilot and the 4kg’s off his back he should be in the shake-up. We give him a good place chance.

He appears to be gradually improving since returning from his rest five runs back and this is his preferred course and distance. He put up a very good effort last time out, staying on strongly in the latter stages under Pierre Strydom and he retains the ride this time around. A lot seems to be in his favour on paper and we think he just needs a bit of luck in running in order to pull a victory off here. On that note, we give him a good each way chance.
