The penultimate round of the 2019/20 Heineken Cup gets underway this Friday evening. Darry Worthington previews all the Pool 1 and 2 action below.
The pool phase of the Heineken Champions Cup is fast approaching its close which means things are destined to heat up over the coming fortnight with teams desperate to qualify for the knock-out phase of Europe's top-tier tournament.
Pools 1 and 2 throw up some intriguing Round 5 fixtures with the pick of the lot seeing the Glasgow Warriors take on the Exter Chiefs.

La Rochelle v Sale

We kick the Pool 1 and 2 action off with an Anglo-French clash between La Rochelle and the Sale Sharks. Both teams are pretty much out of the running for a spot in the next phase of the tournament so we are likely to see both field weakened sides.
In terms of recent form, the visitors head into this one having only won two of their last five fixtures with their latest fixture seeing them beat Harlequins 48-10 in the Gallagher Premiership. La Rochelle have been in slightly better touch over the past month and a bit winning three of their last five games. They head into this one off the back of an impressive 13-44 away victory over Pau in the Top 14.
Verdict: La Rochelle 1/4
I can foresee a weakened La Rochelle side beating a second-strength Sale side by more than 10 points.

Next up we have the match of the weekend with the Glasgow Warriors taking on the Exeter Chiefs.
The hosts went down by 16 points when the two sides met in England back in Round 2.
Exeter have been in all-conquering form in the Heineken Cup this term and sit pretty at the top of Pool 2 having won all four of their fixtures. A win here would secure their passage to the Heineken Cup play-offs.
Verdict: Glasgow 14/10
Glasgow will be desperate to get the points here to give themselves an outside chance of making the play-offs. I can see them doing just this in front of what will be a vocal local crowd.
Leinster v Lyon

Onto Sunday's action now and our first game will see an unbeaten Leinster side take on a Lyon side that needs a minor miracle to make it to the next phase of the tournament.
The hosts are yet to lose a game in any competition this term and sit at the top of the Pool 1 standings. A win here would see them advance to the tournament's knock-out phase with a game to spare.
Verdict: Leinster
Lyon are likely to send a very weak squad to Ireland as they will know they are all but out of the running for qualification to the knock-out phase. I can see Leinster winning this one by more than 15.
Northampton v Treviso

The final fixture we'll take a look at is an Anglo-Italian tie between the Northampton Saints and Bennetton Treviso. The hosts will be gunning for a bonus point here as it would give them a chance of qualifying for the knock-out phase of the tournament.
Treviso, on the other hand, won't put too much onus on this one as they are out of the running for qualification to the knock-out phase.
Verdict: Northampton 1/25
Northampton should have no problems winning this one by more than 20 points with Treviso set to send a weakened side to England.
