Saturday 25 July
South Korean K1 League
Sangju Sangmu 31/10
Draw 5/2
Ulsan Hyundai 8/10
(12:00)
Sangju Sangmu is the sports division of the Military of South Korea and they have been impressive in the league, especially on home soil. The Sangju Firebirds have kept four clean sheets in four wins from their last five league matches at the Sangju Stadium, including a 1-0 surprise win over reigning champions Jeonbuk Motors Hyundai, and will come into this encounter full of confidence.
Ulsan Hyundai come into the clash with almost identical form with four wins, but suffered a 2-0 loss against Jeonbuk Motors Hyundai. The visitors have been in great form on the road, winning four on the bounce with Brazilian striker Junior Negoa in fine form. Ulsan won the last two meetings between these sides convincingly (4-0 and 5-1) but the last three clashes between these teams have seen 14 goals scored.
Totals Over 2.5 Goals at 8/10 is the way to go.
Chinese Super League
Guangzhou Evergrande 9/20
Draw 33/10
Shanghai Shenhua 11/2
(12:15)
The Chinese Super League’s opening round of fixtures will kick-off with Fabio Cannavaro’s reigning champions Guangzhou Evergrande hosting Shanghai Shenhua. The Italian manager will look to Brazilian duo Paulinho and Anderson Talisca as his main attacking threat – the pair netted 30 league goals between them last season.
Shanghai Shenhua disappointingly finished 13th last season despite signing Stephan El Shaarawy from Roma. Guangzhou Evergrande have won the last three meetings between these opponents and the last 16 times these sides faced off, Over 2.5 Goals were scored easily.
Take Over 2.5 Goals at 13/20.
Swiss Super League
FC Zurich 16/10
Draw 26/10
FC St. Gallen 27/20
(20:30)
FC Zurich were thumped by Basel (4-0) and Young Boys (5-0) in recent outings and the reason for the hosts to be languishing at the bottom half of the table could be because they have the worst defensive record on home soil in the league.
FC St. Gallen’s team are full of goals – Cedric Itten (15), Ermedin Demirovic (13), Jordi Quintilla (12) and Boris Babic (7) have propelled their team to second on the log, trailing Young Boys by just two-points, at the time of writing. FC St. Gallen have lost to Zurich in the last three meetings but on current form, I don’t see that trend continuing.
FC St. Gallen are well worth adding to your weekend multiples at 27/20.
Sunday 26 July
South Korean K1 League
Jeonbuk Motors Hyundai 9/20
Draw 32/10
FC Seoul 11/2
(12:00)
Jeonbuk Motors Hyundai need to pull up their socks. The champions are in second place, trailing Ulsan Hyundai by three points and are winless in three games, suffering a 1-0 loss to Sangju Sangmu and come off back-to-back draws against Seongnam (2-2) and Incheon United (1-1).
Former Swansea City forward and current Gambian international Modou Barrow has joined Jeonbuk Motors following South African striker Lars Veldwijk moving to Suwon FC. Seoul are set to sign former English Premier League midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng to get them back to challenging for AFC Champions League positions.
The visitors are winless against Jeonbuk Motors in 10 previous meetings but my money is on Over 2.5 Goals at 8/10.
Swiss Super League
Young Boys 3/10
Draw 47/10
FC Luzern 7/1
(16:00)
Young Boys are a few wins away from clinching the Swiss Super League and defending their title for the third straight season. The hosts have scored 47 goals in 16 unbeaten home matches, almost averaging three goals a game.
Since the restart of football, the champions have netted 20 goals in five matches at their stadium. FC Luzern come into this encounter in poor form, winless in four matches, suffering three losses.
A feast of goals is expected with the champions in waiting claiming the victory at 3/10.
Swiss Super League
Basel 9/10
Draw 5/2
FC Lugano 28/10
(16:00)
Basel are eights points off the pace in the third position with an outside chance of catching Young Boys, but will want to finish strongly to secure their spot into next season’s UEFA Europa League. The 20-time champions have impressed since the return of football, winning all four of their home games convincingly.
FC Lugano come into this encounter in poor form with four consecutive stalemates and haven’t won any of their last eight matches on their travels, losing four and drawing four.
Another goal-filled 90 minutes is expected, take Basel for the win at 9/10.
Portuguese Primeira Liga
Braga 37/20
Draw 22/10
Porto 31/20
(17:00)
Braga will welcome the Portuguese Primeira Liga champions Porto on the final matchday. The hosts will be aiming to hang on to their Europa League position on the league table against a team that have already been crowned champions and have one eye on the cup final against Benfica.
Brazilian left-back Alex Telles has scored 10 league goals for Porto, one less than their primary goal-scorer, Malian striker Moussa Marega. There will be fireworks at the Estadio Municipal de Braga. Porto is a solid selection to add to your multiples at 31/20.
Portuguese Primeira Liga
Benfica 15/20
Draw 5/2
Sporting Lisbon 7/2
(17:00)
Two of Portuguese football’s traditional “Big Three” will square off for the last time this season before going back to the drawing board to figure out how they are going to wrestle the 2020/21 league title away from Porto.
Benfica face the league winners Porto in the Portuguese Cup final on 1 August and can’t be mathematically caught in second place. Sporting Lisbon are reasonably safe in third spot and are likely to ring the changes. Sporting Lisbon have been poor on their travels, winning once in seven league matches.
Back Benfica to conquer this battle in Lisbon at 15/20.
