Following a stuttering two months in their first DStv Premiership campaign under coach Gavin Hunt, Kaizer Chiefs will switch focus to their CAF Champions League clash away in Cameroon against PWD Bamenda.

Pressure is mounting on Hunt from the massive Amakhosi support, but a convincing victory in this tie could give the Glamour Boys confidence to turn things around.

PWD Bamenda
PWD Bamenda won Cameroon’s Elite 1 league title following the cancellation of the 2019-20 season by the Cameroonian Football Federation. David Pagou’s men clinched their maiden domestic title, despite being unable to see out their remaining fixtures due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In preparation for this encounter, David Pagou’s men played two home and away matches against Libyan giants Al Ahli where Bamenda won the away match 2-1 and played a goalless draw in the second match.
Kaizer Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs return to the CAF Champions League for the first time since 2016 after they finished as runners-up to Mamelodi Sundowns in the 2019/20 Absa Premiership campaign. Amakhosi will start proceedings with two-legged ties against PWD Bamenda of Cameroon in the preliminary round.
This is not a return Chiefs fans would’ve hoped for as the club couldn’t bring in any new players. But this could be a blessing in disguise for the likes of Njabulo Blom and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo as they will gain a lot of experience in this competition.
Prediction: Kaizer Chiefs Win
It will be interesting to see how Gavin Hunt approaches this game as most fans suggest he should just roll over as they feel he doesn’t have a squad that’s good enough to compete in such a competitive tournament. Despite not having the best team currently, I still expect Kaizer Chiefs to win against this team.
