The four-year-old bay stayed on for a good 2nd behind subsequent winner Star Trek over this c & d just over one month ago and he can certainly go one better here. He still has scope for improvement.

ROMAN CALAMITY was rewarded for some decent comeback form when he romped to an expected easy victory over much weaker over a mile on this track, four weeks ago. He gave the impression that he still has plenty more to offer and the Caesour gelding is expected to love this extra ground. He will have no issue raising his game in today's stronger company, having tired late to finish a creditable 5th behind
RAHVAR in his comeback run after a huge layoff. The Corne' Spies inmate is favourably weighted with that rival and he does seem well handicapped here.

A decent field has assembled for the renewal of this non-black type contest and a thrilling finish could be on the cards. It could pay to follow the progress of Masterly (runs in race 6) today as his stablemate JET EXPLORER finished three parts of a length adrift of that rival recently and is expected to go close in the day's topliner. The veteran eight-year-old gelding probably shouldered too much weight when tiring late into 3rd that day but his c & d performance in the East Cape Poly Challenge in May brings him heavily into contention. The Snaith inmate had the 'polytrack champion' GOGETTHESHERIFF half a length adrift of him that day and he is 4kgs better off with the latter. Furthermore, he also accounted for that rival on the True Master run next time out. The top selection is unbeaten from two efforts on this surface.

The four-year-old filly is well handicapped in this field and she still has room for improvement. She should be competitive from a decent draw.
