SuperSport in line for back to back titles
SuperSport United are still on track to win their second consecutive title after their 1 - 0 win against Kaizer Chiefs. A tightly-contested affair saw only one goal from the lethal striker Bradley Grobler who tucked the ball past Khune with a left foot strike in the 58th minute. SuperSport will look to repeat their 2017 feat of beating Cape Town City in the MTN8 Cup final.
Sundowns crash out of two tournaments
Sundowns scored through Toni Silva early on in the first half to bring the game level on aggregate against Cape Town City. With no change to the scoreline the game went to penalties, where Peter Leeuwenburgh saved two penalties against Silva and Anthony Laffor to send Cape Town City into a consecutive final. Sundowns have now crashed out of two competitions in quick succession after their recent CAF Champions League exit.
Cape Town City's fairy tale continues
In what will be a repeat of the 2017 final. Cape Town City will look to win their maiden MTN8 title as 2017 saw them lose to penalties against the current reigning champions, SuperSport. Benni McCarthy is eagerly awaiting the clash that could see him win his first piece of silverware as Coach with the club.
Grobler's three in two
Bradley Grobler is now top favourite to win the MTN8 player of the tournament after his three goals from two matches against Kaizer Chiefs in both semi final legs, should SuperSport win and Grobler score again in the final - he should be first choice to win the award.
What to expect
With the final only set for one leg - both teams will need no room for errors if they are to taste MTN8 glory. For SuperSport, it's a familiar feeling which they'll want to relive, but for Cape Town City it will be more about redemption from last year's disappointment.
