Log leaders Barcelona and Real Madrid both came from a goal down to beat strugglers Leganes and Real Sociedad respectively. Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid’s poor run of form continued when they were held at Granada, whilst Sevilla leapfrogged Diego Simeone’s men into third after a hard-fought victory at Valladolid.
It doesn’t get any easier at the top as Barca will play both the Madrid teams in December, starting off this weekend when they welcome rivals Atletico Madrid to the Camp Nou. December is usually a difficult month for most teams and it’s important to maintain consistency before the Christmas break. Let’s find out what the first weekend of the festive season has for us.

Celta Vigo 8/10
Draw 49/20
Real Valladolid 37/10
Celta Vigo will be banking on home advantage to help them to back-to-back wins this weekend after their superb performance at Villarreal last Sunday which saw them emerge 3-1 victors. That was Celta’s third win of the campaign and it saw them sit on 12 points two points, behind 17th-placed Mallorca.
The visitors produced some top performances at the early stages of the season and they looked like a team that won’t be close to the relegation battle. However, the poor results of late have dragged Valladolid back into the mix as they are now five points clear of their opponents which could be cut to two, provided Celta Vigo hand the visitors their third consecutive defeat.
Back the hosts to make it back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
Saturday 30 November
Real Sociedad 15/20
Draw 26/10
Eibar 37/10
After last week’s 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid, Sociedad will be desperate to bounce back to winning ways. If the hosts turn up, the three-points should be theirs, taking into account the Eibar’s dismal form on the road.
The visitors have won just once on the road from seven matches and they visit a side that has won three from six at home. Sociedad were disappointing in their last two home games, losing to Levante and drawing with Leganes. Head coach Imanol Alguacil knows a win here could see his side move back in the top four.
Real Sociedad should win this match.
Mallorca 31/20
Draw 47/20
Real Betis 17/10
Real Betis put an end to their dismal run last weekend when they beat Valencia 2-1. Rubi’s men are now 15th on the standings and are slowly creeping out of the relegation zone. However, Real Betis must start winning games on the road if they are to steer clear of the red zone.
The visitors are winless on the road with four defeats from six matches. Mallorca will fancy their chances here, especially after their impressive showings at home which saw them collect 14 points and beat La Liga giants Real Madrid.
As the form suggests, Mallorca are worth a punt at home.
Valencia |27/20
Draw 24/10
Villarreal 39/20
Valencia have been slumping down the ladder for the past few weeks and are dangerously edging closer to being completely out of the top four race. They welcome a Villarreal team that was very disappointing in their last game, losing 3-1 at home to relegation-fighting Celta Vigo.
This is a must-win for the hosts to have a chance in competing for top four – the gap is now five points and the Bats can’t afford to drop any more points. With Los Che on a three-match winning streak against Villarreal, the visitors are the underdogs to salvage even a point this Saturday.
Get on Valencia to return to winning ways.
Sunday 1 December
Sevilla 5/10
Draw 31/10
Leganes 57/10
Home advantage alone should be enough for Sevilla to win this Sunday, but both the head-to-head stats and current form are indicating a clear upper hand for the hosts. There were a lot of uncertainties surrounding Julen Lopetegui’s appointment, but to be fair, the former Real Madrid coach has done a tremendous job since taking over.
Lopetegui’s men have won eight from their last 11 matches, losing just once to log leaders Barcelona. Sevilla are currently third and a win here will put them in a good position considering the fact that Barca will play Atletico and Real Madrid in their next matches.
Back Sevilla to win this game on the (-1) Handicap at 13/10.
Athletic Bilbao 7/10
Draw 49/20
Granada 47/10
Athletic Bilbao have been doing their business quietly and are now serious contenders for top four. Their impressive record of five wins and a draw at San Mames has really put them in a good position.
Only Valencia and Valladolid have stopped Bilbao from claiming maximum points in their backyard and they have only conceded three goals at the San Mames. Granada have been blowing hot and cold on their travels, winning two, drawing three and losing two of their seven matches.
Athletic Bilbao is a banker here at 7/10.
Espanyol 12/10
Draw 43/20
Osasuna 5/2
Osasuna, despite the initial fire they displayed early in the campaign, have been struggling ever since to keep up with the intense demands of La Liga. One major reason for this downfall is surely their low-key performances in away fixtures which has seen them win just once on the road from seven outings.
Espanyol should make the most of this poor away record, but the Catalans have problems of their own. When hiring Pablo Machin, a lot was expected and it seems like the former Sevilla mentor is failing to meet the demands and a defeat here could see him out of a job.
Back these sides to cancel each other out.
Getafe 8/10
Draw 49/20
Levante 15/4
Getafe will be banking on home advantage to help them bounce back to winning ways this weekend. The hosts certainly have their work cut out for them as Levante are by no means an easy side to brush past. Only a point separates these two sides from seventh and ninth. If both teams want to participate in Europe next season, these are the type of games they should win, especially when playing at home.
Back Getafe to edge past Levante.
Atletico Madrid 18/10
Draw 23/10
Barcelona 15/10
