Bafana Bafana will don their new Le Coq Sportif kit for the first time when they take on Namibia in the first of their two friendlies this week where coach Molefi Ntseki is expected to try out new combinations.

Coach Molefi Ntseki has given maiden call ups to 26-year old defender Thibang Phete, who plies his trade in the Portuguese Primera Liga for OS Belenenses SAD and Belgium-based striker Kurt Abrahams who plays for KVC Westerlo. This is a clear indication that the technical team will have future in mind when this friendly takes place.
Sifiso Hlanti, who is training with Kaizer Chiefs, Kermit Erasmus who has just joined Mamelodi Sundowns and Thulani Hlatshwayo, who is a new member of the Orlando Pirates family, will be looking to impress their new clubs while regaining match fitness ahead of the new season. Bafana Bafana will also be using this game to prepare for next month’s AFCON qualifiers.
Ntseki’s boys didn’t start the qualifiers particularly well, having beaten Sudan 1-0 and losing 2-0 to Ghana. It’s good to know that newly-appointed Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach, Arthur Zwane, has once again been called up to assist Ntseki in the national setup. Zwane did very well in the Chiefs reserve side which highlights his ability to deal with youngsters.
Namibia
Namibia will also be looking to use this match to test their readiness for next month's AFCON qualifiers. The Brave Warriors have won one and lost one of their first two fixtures, leaving them in third place behind Guinea and Mali who are tied on four points.
The Namibian national team boasts players who know Bafana Bafana very well, like PSL top scorer Peter Shalulile, Orlando Pirates winger Deon Hotto, and Swallows goalkeeper Virgil Vries to mention a few. These sides last met in the 2019 AFCON with the South Africans winning 1-0 courtesy of a Bongani Zungu header from Percy Tau’s corner kick.
Verdict: South Africa
Namibia will threaten to win it but I think Ntseki’s boys have enough quality to get the better of the visitors. Back Bafana Bafana to triumph here.
