Club football takes a break this weekend as footballers prepare to don the kits of their beloved countries for the last time this year, before returning to their clubs for the gruelling December schedule. We’ve got a great preview with excellent tips that will help you make some extra cash.
Saturday 14 November
San Marino 17/4 | Draw 9/4 | Gibraltar 15/20
San Marino are yet to score in their first three games in the lowest ranking group of the Nations League, suffering two defeats and earning a first point in the goalless draw at Liechtenstein last time out. Gibraltar will be looking to extend their winning streak to three wins on the bounce after beating both San Marino and Liechtenstein by a 1-0 scoreline. I’d personally stay away from this clash, but if you have to, take a punt on the visitors at 15/20.
Malta 15/20 | Draw 23/10 | Andorra 17/4
Malta have five points on the board from four matches and will be aiming to secure maximum points after disappointingly being held to a goalless draw when the reverse tie was played in Andorra. The visitors are yet to score in their opening four games, drawing twice and suffering two defeats. Andorra have scored once in their last 10 matches on their travels, the smart money is on Malta at 15/20.
Cyprus 2/1 | Draw 21/10 | Luxembourg 14/10
Cyprus are winless in this group and picked up their first point when they shared the spoils with Azerbaijan last time out following three straight defeats to Montenegro, Azerbaijan and Luxembourg. The visitors come into this encounter full of confidence. The table-toppers have won three of their four matches and will look to replicate the 2-0 victory when they hosted Cyprus five weeks ago. Luxembourg offers great value at 14/10 for the win.
Azerbaijan 22/10 | Draw 2/1 | Montenegro 27/20
Azerbaijan welcome Montenegro to the “The Land of Fire” with the hosts desperate to close the gap on the top two teams in the group, Luxembourg and Montenegro. The visitors Montenegro, had their three-game winning streak ended as they suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Luxembourg and will be looking to get back to winning ways. These sides are tipped to share the spoils at 2/1.
Latvia 12/10 | Draw 2/1 | Faroe Islands 49/20
Latvia are winless in four games, suffering a 1-0 loss to Malta last time out after drawing their opening three games with Andorra, Malta and Faroe Islands. The visitors top the standings with 10 points with three wins and a stalemate in the previous meeting with Latvia. With the hosts’ tendency of holding on for draws, I’ll be safe and back Faroe Islands on the Win/Draw Double Chance at 6/10.
Sweden 18/10 | Draw 21/10 | Croatia 31/20
Sweden find themselves rock bottom in this group without a single point, although any nation will find it tough to compete against the likes of France, Portugal and Croatia who possess quality footballers across the entire squad. Croatia have also struggled to compete, the “Chequered Ones” were comprehensively beaten by France and Portugal with their only victory coming in the reverse fixture against Sweden. Andrej Kramaric’s goal decided the match with five minutes left on the referee’s watch and manager Zlatko Dalic will be counting on his in-form striker to deliver the goods once again. My money is on the away win at 31/20.
Germany 3/10 | Draw 9/2 | Ukraine 7/1
Germany and Ukraine sit level on six points, trailing group leaders Spain by a single point coming into this clash. The Germans have failed to find their best form with three draws against Spain (1-1) and Switzerland (1-1 & 3-3), claiming their only win against Ukraine in Kiev five weeks ago. Andriy Shevchenko’s Yellow and Blues shocked everyone with a 1-0 win over the Spaniards in their last outing, which will give the Ukrainians a lot of belief that they can possibly get something out of this encounter against a team that isn’t at its best at the moment. However, I feel Germany will put their dip in form behind them and get the job done. Take Germany and Yes in the Matchbet and Both Teams to Score market at 14/10.
Switzerland 3/1 | Draw 24/10 | Spain 9/10
Switzerland is winless in four matches having drawn with Germany twice and losing to Ukraine (2-1) and Spain (1-0). The “Red Crosses” have quality in their team, especially in Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji in the heart of defence and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Breel Embolo’s speed on the counter. Xherdan Shaqiri has also been showing promising signs in recent cameos for Liverpool. Spain needed a Mikel Oyarzabal goal to decide the previous meeting in a match that was tightly contested. Wonderkid Ansu Fati suffered an internal meniscus tear in his left knee and will be a huge blow for La Furia Roja. I’m expecting another tightly-contested match and instead of picking a winner, go with Under 2.5 Goals at 8/10.
Sunday 15 November
Slovakia 17/10 | Draw 9/4 | Scotland 31/20
Slovakia are winless from four games with three defeats and a draw which doesn’t bode well for their chances when they host group leaders Scotland in Sunday’s first match. Scotland opened their Nations League campaign with a 1-1 draw against Israel but have been impressive since then, winning three on the trot. The Tartan Army’s starting 11 is made up of players who are regular starters in the English Premier League and I’m expecting their winning streak to continue. Take Scotland to win at 31/20.
North Macedonia 5/10 | Draw 31/10 | Estonia 11/2
North Macedonia are unbeaten in their four group games. Following their 2-1 win over Armenia, the hosts shared the spoils against Georgia (1-1 twice) and Estonia (3-3). Estonia come into the clash winless with two losses and two draws. Take North Macedonia to edge out the win at 5/10.
Netherlands 7/20 | Draw 39/10 | Bosnia 7/1
Netherlands need to get out of their poor string of results but will find it difficult without the leadership of influential defender Virgil Van Dijk who will likely return to action in six months’ time. The Oranje beat Poland (1-0) in the opening match, then lost to Italy (1-0) and now come into the clash off the back of consecutive draws against Bosnia (0-0) and Italy (1-1). Bosnia come off a 3-0 defeat in Poland and are yet to win a match in the group. Edin Dzeko, Edin Visca and Miralem Pjanic will look to bag maximum points for the Dragons and put themselves back in contention in a group that is wide open. Instead of picking a winner, take Both Teams to Score (Yes) at even money.
Turkey 15/10 | Draw 43/20 | Russia 18/10
Turkey are winless with three points from three draws and a defeat in four matches. Since the inception of this competition, the Crescent-Stars have failed to win on home soil. Russia are unbeaten after wins over Serbia (3-1) and Hungary (3-2), followed by stalemates at home to Turkey and Hungary. Back Russia at 18/10 to extend their lead at the top of the group.
Bulgaria 24/10 | Draw 39/20 | Finland 13/10
Bulgaria are bottom of the group with a single point to their name and come into the clash with three straight defeats without scoring a goal. Finland shook off their opening round defeat to Wales by winning three games on the bounce without conceding. It looks tempting but I won’t go for the visitors to Win to Nil. Under 2.5 Goals looks a certainty at 9/20, however, take the away win at decent odds of 13/10.
Wales 21/20 | Draw 2/1 | Ireland 29/10
Wales will welcome Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey back to the team after both players returned to full fitness in the past month. In their absence, the Welsh have fared quite decently with wins over Finland and Bulgaria (twice) to top their group. Ireland are winless with two draws and two defeats and stand very little chance of upsetting the apple cart in this encounter. Back the Welsh Dragons for the win.
Georgia 17/20 | Draw 23/10 | Armenia 34/10
Georgia are unbeaten in this group and are chasing top spot which is currently occupied by North Macedonia. The hosts won their opener and then drew the next three matches. After beating Estonia 2-0, the Armenians come into this clash with back-to back draws. The draw looks a solid bet at 23/10 looking at current form, but I suggest going against the betting and take Both Teams to Score (Yes) at 12/10.
Belarus 8/10 | Draw 22/10 | Lithuania 38/10
Belarus top the group thanks to home and away victories against bottom side Kazakhstan. In the previous meeting, these sides shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw in Lithuania. The visitors are priced as outsiders because they have only won once away from home in this competition. I expect Belarus to edge this encounter, but if I had to put money down on this game, I’ll play it safe and go with Under 2.5 Goals at 9/20.
Albania 13/20 | Draw 49/20 | Kazakhstan 9/2
After opening their Nations League campaign with a 2-0 victory over Belarus, Albania are winless in three games and have failed to score in the same period. Kazakhstan also won their first match and went winless in their next three games, with the visitors failing to find the net in their last two encounters. I’m going for Under 2.5 Goals again at 5/10.
Denmark 4/10 | Draw 33/10 | Iceland 13/2
Denmark got their Nations League campaign back on track after two disappointing games at home. The Danes beat Iceland (3-0) and England (1-0) in their own backyards and will be desperate to add another three points to their tally. Iceland find themselves surrounded by strong opposition in this group and have lost all four matches. Denmark should be considered one of the bankers this weekend.
Austria 9/20 | Draw 31/10 | Northern Ireland 6/1
Austria will return to home soil to host Northern Ireland following back-to-back victories on their travels against Northern Ireland and Romania. Marcel Sabitzer will be hoping to score the first goal for his team to set the tone in order to secure another three points. Northern Ireland are in woeful form as the visitors come into the clash suffering three consecutive defeats. Austria is my best bet this weekend, back the home win.
Romania 43/20 | Draw 23/10 | Norway 12/10
Romania come into the clash off back-to-back defeats and will be left with the unenviable task of trying to defend against one of the most promising strikers in football, Erling Halaand. The previous meeting between these sides saw Norway run out 4-0 winners thanks to a hat-trick by Halaand. Norway will be aiming to extend their winning streak to four games. If Halaand is in the starting 11 have a punt on the Anytime Goalscorer market. My money will be on Norway at 12/10.'
Czech Republic 7/10 | Draw 11/4 | Israel 36/10
Czech Republic will be targeting maximum points when they host Israel. The Czech’s beat Slovakia (3-1) and Israel (2-1) but then lost twice against the group leaders Scotland. Israel are very inconsistent, holding Scotland and Slovakia to stalemates, then losing to Czech Republic before beating Slovakia (3-2) last time out. The home win looks a good bet but I’ll opt for Both Teams to Score (Yes) at 15/20.
Hungary 16/10 | Draw 2/1 | Serbia 8/10
Hungary return to home soil after collecting seven points from three games on their travels. The hosts beat Turkey and Serbia in their own backyards while earning a point from their draw in Russia. Serbia are winless in their four matches after sharing the spoils both home and away against Turkey and losing to Russia (3-1) and Hungary (1-0). Take these sides to cancel each other out at 2/1.
Moldova 7/1 | Draw 31/10 | Greece 4/10
Moldova are huge outsiders after losing their last three games without scoring a single goal. Greece are on eight points and will desperate to punish Moldova to take top spot in the group. The last meeting between these sides ended 2-0 to Greece. The visitors are short-priced at 4/10, take Away Win to Nil at 9/10 if you’re searching for more value.
Slovenia 17/20 | Draw 2/1 | Kosovo 39/10
After failing to beat Greece in their opening match, Slovenia are enjoying a three-match winning streak. Jan Oblak, who is arguably the best goalkeeper in the world at the moment, is yet to concede in the Nations League for Slovenia. Kosovo have very little to no chance in this match. The visitors are winless in eight matches across all competitions. Back Home Win to Nil at 31/20.
