The speedy CAPTAIN ELLIO is finding his best form since arriving in this province and he fought hard when going down narrowly on his polytrack debut over this distance, four weeks ago. That effort earned him a two pound penalty but the bay gelding now has his peak showing and he is his yard's only entrant on the night. He should still be very competitive from his good draw.

LITTLE CHAPEL bounced right back to her best form when given a strong ride by tonight's jockey over the mile on the grass, earlier this month. The daughter of Ideal World met far stronger opposition on conditions terms that day and she drops heavily in class here. She is unbeaten from two c & d attempts and is a serious contender.

ROY'S PONY is a lightly raced three-year-old bay filly who relished the step-up in distance when she ran on strongly for a close 2nd over this c & d a fortnight ago. Admittedly, that was in an ordinary line-up but the daughter of Noordhoek Flyer is improving and she certainly has more to offer. She jumps from the best draw tonight.

This is an extremely competitive handicap where a serious case can be made for most of the nine entrants, of which SECRET WARNING is the narrow first selection. Interestingly, there aren't many natural pacesetters and top jockey Marcus could adopt those tactics to great effect. The bay gelding that he partners has fair form, including a decent last display behind MAGICAL BET (2kgs better off) in a minor feature on the grass. He has posted two of his three career wins on this surface and the likely sedate gallop swings things in his favour. He is his yard's solitary entrant on the night.
