After a two-week hiatus, the Gallagher Premiership resumes this week as the sides gear up for Round 10 amidst yet another hectic Christmas schedule.
Friday 21 December

Worcester Warriors v Northampton Saints
21h45
Sixways Stadium
The Warriors and Saints are deadlocked on 17-points apiece heading into Friday’s clash at the Sixways. The hosts will be buoyed by their impressive performances in the Challenge Cup where they currently top Pool 2, while the Saints sit second in Pool 1.
However, rather curiously, just four-points separate sixth from 12th on the Premiership standings, adding even more importance to this weekend’s encounter. With some seasoned veterans to call upon, though, expect the men in green, black and yellow to claim what would be just their fourth win of the campaign.
Verdict: Northampton

Saturday 22 December
Exeter Chiefs v Saracens
17h00
Sandy Park
Sandy Park will this weekend play host to what is undoubtedly the game of the season when runaway log leaders the Exeter Chiefs and Saracens battle it out for top spot. The visitors, two-points ahead of the Chiefs on the standings and unbeaten across all competitions this season, can extend their lead at the summit of the Premiership with what would be a hugely significant victory away from home.
Exeter on the other hand, will look to put their wobbly European form behind them and steal top spot away from the defending champions on Saturday. This one has all the making of a classic but expect the hosts to condemn Sarries to a first defeat in 2018-19.
Verdict: Exeter Chiefs

Leicester Tigers v Harlequins
17h00
Welford Road
Leicester head into this one on an embarrassing eight-match losing streak stretching right back to October. The two-time European champions find themselves eighth on the standings with just three wins to their name but their opponents this weekend, the Harlequins, have hardly fared much better, picking up four victories in their nine matches so far.
The Tigers, six-points adrift of the Quins, can claw their way up the ladder with a win here but will need to overcome a severe lack of confidence if they are to turn the tide, which they should do on Saturday.
Verdict: Leicester

Sale Sharks v Bristol Bears
17h00
AJ Bell Stadium
The Sale Sharks, at this stage more bottom-feeders than Great Whites, have a shot at climbing out of the bottom two when the Bears of Bristol come knocking on Saturday. Despite the two outfits having secured the same number of wins so far this season (three), Bristol sit in seventh, albeit just two-points ahead of the eleventh-placed Sharks.
In what has been a recurring theme throughout the season, this game again has an element of unpredictability about it with so little separating the sides. Nevertheless, I’m backing the hosts to come out and get the result.
Verdict: Sale

Sunday 23 December
Newcastle Falcons v Gloucester
17h00
Kingston Park
Having taken all and sundry by surprise last season in qualifying for the semi-finals, Newcastle have taken a step backwards this campaign and sit bottom of the pile after nine rounds. While they have performed admirably in a Champions Cup pool that consists of the likes of Montpellier and Toulon, there hasn’t been too much to smile about on the domestic front. With Gloucester visiting this weekend, the side from the east coast may be staring down the barrel once more.
Verdict: Gloucester

London Wasps v Bath Rugby
17h00
Ricoh Arena
With their European hopes in tatters, Wasps and Bath will turn their full attention to the Premiership when they clash on Saturday. Dai Young’s charges sit five-points ahead of this weekend’s opponents, having managed two more wins than Todd Blackadder’s bunch.
The host’s desire to keep up with the likes of Gloucester in their bid to finish in the top four should see them get back to winning ways at the Ricoh Arena having fallen foul to Toulouse twice in successive weeks.
Verdict: Wasps
