Beverley Best Bets
Race 6: ONE TO GO (6)
Trainer: Tim Easterby
Jockey: David Allan
Now that he's finally put his head in front,
ONE TO GO can consolidate and follow-up for his in-form stable. Before that course and distance triumph over Northern Lyte, he'd flattered to deceive on a couple of occasions and the blinkers he sports were looked upon in some quarters as the badge of a rogue. However, he never flinched in putting his latest race to bed and that should have given his confidence a boost.
Race 4: BURTONWOOD (8)
Trainer: Julie Camacho
Jockey: Graham Lee
BURTONWOOD is in his comfort zone at this stiff track and just needs the rub of the green to regain the winning thread. The 7yo has run into the money on each of his last two starts here, and while being drawn wide isn't ideal he was in similar territory for his latest third behind Atyaaf.
Yarmouth Best Bets
Race 3: JOVIAL (6)
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute
Jockey: Ryan Moore
Backed as if defeat was out of the question when third on her Chelmsford introduction,
JOVIAL has any amount of improvement in her. The losses sustained in the race won by Dear Power are surely only lent if the quality of her homework is any guide.
Race 6: SPANISH CITY (1)
Trainer: Roger Varian
Jockey: Jack Mitchell
In its make and shape, this race bears no similarity to the valuable handicaps
SPANISH CITY has contested for much of the season. He faces just five opponents while he's used to mixing it in big fields such as the Bunbury Cup in which he was a close fourth. He blew out over six furlongs in the Stewards Cup but the Goodwood form is best ignored, and if putting his best foot forward he should take this.
Goodwood Best Bets
Race 1: SINGLE (8)
Trainer: Mick Channon
Jockey: Oisin Murphy
Despite running green, SINGLE shaped encouragingly on her debut at Salisbury to finish just out of the money behind Elegant Erin. In a race her trainer won last year, the hooded filly is fancied to make sufficient progress to open her account.
Race 2: LORD HOWARD (5)
Trainer: Mick Channon
Jockey: David Probert
Channon also plundered this seller in 2018 and his runner this time, LORD HOWARD could get into the shake-up even though he's shown nothing in his two career starts. He has a mountain to climb on the ratings but this is the lowest rung of the class ladder, and he works as if he's better than his mark.
Race 5: LIMATO (1)
Trainer: Henry Candy
Jockey: James Doyle
The class act in this Group 3 Supreme Stakes,
LIMATO can show that he's still got star quality to fend off a posse of mainly younger foes. His Eclipse in the July Cup is best overlooked as these days he's not able to cut it in Group Ones. But at this level, and with a significant jockey change, he can storm back to form.
