Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips for Monday's racing at Windsor, Catterick and Wolverhampton.
Windsor Best Bets
Race 3: INDIAN CREAK (3)
Trainer: Mick Channon
Jockey: Callum Shepherd
Impressive Epsom scorer
INDIAN CREAK contested the hottest nursery of the season at Goodwood and finished a creditable fifth to Governor Of Punjab. He was given every chance and kept on well towards the finish, being beaten a total of three and a quarter lengths. As a horse that has improved in each of his five career starts, he is going to find this smaller field more his cup of tea.
Race 4: ROTHERWICK (5)
Trainer: Paul Cole
Jockey: Rossa Ryan
ROTHERWICK has been around the block a few times but after having no luck in his five starts so far this year can now put his head in front. He gave a clear signal that he is coming to the boil when finishing strongly in third in the apprentice race that concluded Glorious Goodwood. His two and a quarter lengths defeat by the unexposed Gifts Of Gold reads well.
Catterick Abbot Best Bets
Race 1: MAYSTAR (1)
Trainer: Archie Watson
Jockey: Hollie Doyle
In a contest loaded with pace,
MAYSTAR can produce a carbon copy of his success at Lingfield and lead from gate to line. A penalty for that four lengths triumph over Instantly will not make things so straightforward for the selection, but he has the most potential for improvement of anything in the field and will enjoy the soft conditions that were also prevalent on his debut.
Race 5: COTTON CLUB (4)
Trainer: George Boughey
Jockey: Jack Mitchell
With few miles on the click there could be room for further improvement by
COTTON CLUB who went close in his reappearance at Bath despite nothing going right for him during the race. Having blown the start, he quickly contested the lead only to hang right entering the final furlong. This might have cost him the race, as he went down by only threequarters of a length to Horatio Star. He therefore appeals as a winner without a penalty.
Wolverhampton Best Bets
Race 1: DECONSO (8)
Trainer: Chris Kellett
Jockey: Toby Eley
The natural gate speed of
DECONSO can serve him well from a plum draw on the rail. His Yarmouth run last week to finish third to Dutch Story is better than it looks and this time his apprentice pilot can be bold and try to make all. It's a weak affair, and he brings the best recent form to the table.
Race 7: AVENUE FOCH (5)
Trainer: James Fanshawe
Jockey: George Wood
We haven't seen the best of
AVENUE FOCH, who burned a few fingers when a well-beaten favourite over this course and distance last month. The hold up tactics employed that day were exaggerated and in fairness he had no chance of making up that amount of ground. The way he works suggests he's better than that and definitely worth another chance.
