The Bundesliga appeared to be settled with Bayern Munich ready to take home the title eight points clear and a supposed clear run of fixtures ahead.

But matters took a turn to make things interesting as the Bavarians dropped points in a 1-1 draw against seventh-placed and Europa League hungry Union Berlin. RB Leipzig’s answer to the log leaders dropping points saw them thump Werder Bremen 4-1 away, leaving them five-points short and six games left in the race for glory.
The stage is set for the final sprint of the season, let’s get into the Deutschland fixtures!
Friday 16 April
4/10 RB Leipzig | 4/1 | Hoffenheim 6/1
On Friday night at the Red Bull Arena, we see the home team and title challengers RB Leipzig welcome 13th-placed Hoffenheim. Leipzig’s home record has only been marred by Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich this season, winning 10 and drawing two. Hoffenheim in their travels are winless in six games and are holding back-to-back losses. Back the home team to collect all three points.
Saturday 17 April
15/10 Borussia Monchengladbach | 26/10 | Eintracht Frankfurt 16/10
Monchengladbach vs Eintracht Frankfurt take it to the field for the 96th time. The Eagles hold the edge with 35 wins over the Colts who have 33 wins. Marco Rose has managed to get his team back into winning form over the last three league fixtures after going on a seven-game winless run. Eintracht Frankfurt has been in exceptional form, losing just once and winning 12 of their last 17 league games. The boys from Frankfurt are looking to maintain their Champions League place, with Borussia Dortmund breathing down their necks. In the tightest affair of the weekend, I cannot pick out a winner, back Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals at 15/20.
26/10 Wolfsburg | Draw 28/10 | Bayern Munich 19/20
In a post-match interview grumpy Hans Flick shut down the media amid his future at Bayern Munich and the German giants have a midweek trip to Paris in the Champions League where all the chips are on the line before addressing gameweek 29’s tussle with Wolfsburg. The home team are unbeaten in 13 Bundesliga matches at the Wolkswagen Arena and will not make it easy for the visitors and in-form forward Wout Weghorst who is looking to be the fourth player to break into the ‘20 goal club’ in the Bundesliga this season. With Bayern stumbling in their last league fixture and the pressure mounting, Back Both Teams to Score (yes) and Over 2.5 at 15/20.
13/20 Freiburg | 29/10 | Schalke 38/10
Schalke pulled off their first win in 13 fixtures to defeat Augsburg 1-0 at home where the matchday Birthday boy, Suat Serdar, was handed a gift by opposition goalkeeper, Rafal Gikiewicz, who fumbled the ball into the attacking player’s path. Freiburg were handed their 11th loss of the season after 16th-placed Arminia Bielefeld secured a narrow 1-0 victory over the longest-serving coach in the Bundesliga, Christian Streich, who now has four losses in his last five fixtures. Despite the recent victory, Schalke are still 13 points from removing themselves from relegation. The home team will turn their recent form around with three points.
12/10 Union Berlin | 49/20 | Stuttgart 43/20
Union Berlin pulled off a delightful 1-1 draw to upset the log leaders Bayern Munich in their last league outing. The Iron Ones sit in seventh place, three points from the Europa League spot when they welcome Stuttgart to their home in Berlin where they are 13 games unbeaten in the league. The Reds dropped points in a hard-fought 3-2 home defeat to Dortmund in their last 90 minutes on the field, and are now one point behind their current opponents. They are still without their Congolese talisman Silas Wamangituka, as well as four other players due to injury. Despite concerns over injury, Pellegrino Matarazzo will put in a good fight against Berlin and the game will likely end in a draw.
13/10 Augsburg | 24/10 | Arminia Bielefeld 2/1
Augsburg suffered an embarrassing defeat to bottom-of-the-barrel Schalke on their travels last gameweek. Regardless of their disappointing loss, their home form in the last five sits at three wins, a draw and one defeat. They now welcome Arminia Bielefeld to the Augsburg Arena and the travelling team brings some lacklustre away performances to the table, with just two wins this Bundesliga campaign. Augsburg’s quality will see through a draw to the away team’s fight against relegation.
11/20 Bayer Leverkusen | 31/10 | Cologne 46/10
Bayer Leverkusen, who sit in sixth place, have three teams breathing down their necks and are just four points behind a Europa League position with six games left. Die Werkself’s first half of the season is polar opposite to the latter half. Leverkusen started the season off with a 13-game unbeaten run and have gone on to only scrape four wins in their last 13 during the course of 2021. On the other side of table, 17th-placed Cologne have not won a match in their last eight attempts. Back Bayer Leverkusen to take a much-needed win.
Sunday 18 April
4/10 Borussia Dortmund | 4/1 | Werder Bremen 58/10
Borussia Dortmund have bounced back from a three-game winless streak after beating Stuttgart 3-2 away from home. Before the Black and Yellows take on Werder Bremen to try and secure a Champions League spot, they take on English giants Manchester City in a mouth-watering midweek fixture. Werder Bremen are now on a four-game losing run and their current opponents are one of the toughest in the league. Back the Black and Yellows + Over 2.5 Goals at 17/20.
14/10 Mainz | 9/4 | Hertha Berlin 2/1
The Bundesliga’s final match for gameweek 29 sees in-form Mainz go up against struggling travellers Hertha Berlin. Mainz have put on the biggest fight of the bottom five teams in the Bundesliga, currently enjoying a five-game unbeaten run as they strut into their next fixture. 14th-placed Mainz look to distance themselves from 15th-placed Hertha with the current points gap at just two points. The Old Lady is horrible on the road this season, winless in 10 away games and racking up just two wins the entire season. A Mainz win is a safe bet, and just so happens to be valuable at 14/10.
TREBLE @ 6/1
Bayer Leverkusen Win 11/20
Dortmund Win + Over 2.5 17/20
Mainz Win 14/10
