Gameeek 10 of the 2016/17 Italian Serie A gets underway on Saturday evening.
As the from Serie A heats up week after week, Juventus seem to go from strength to strength and remain the front runners to defend their title as champions of Italy. Roma and AC Milan are still hot on their heels but with the Old Lady in scintillating form, it seems like just a matter of time till the rest of the Scudetto challengers fade into the background. There are a couple eye-catching matchups to read into in matchday 12 and I will do my utmost best to give you valuable insight – watch this space.
Saturday 5 November
Torino 11/20 | Draw 33/10 | Cagliari 9/2
Despite Torino’s winless run of three consecutive matches, they remain unbeaten on their ground with three wins and two draws from five games.
Their opponents, Cagliari, have travelled dismally with four defeats from five matches, scoring five goals and conceding 14 times.
The last five meetings between these sides have seen both teams find the back of the net, but for more value, get on the matchbet Torino Win + Both Teams To Score at 13/10.
Napoli 15/20 | Draw 29/10 | Lazio 33/10
A wounded Napoli side will play host to an in-form Lazio team in the final Serie A encounter on Saturday. The home side fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Juve last weekend, their sixth league loss there in a row, scoring two goals and conceding 14 since a 3-2 thriller in October 2009. Maurizio Sarri’s men have now lost three of the last five Serie A matches.
Lazio have been in great form and remain unbeaten in their last six games, including two victories on the trot. Ciro Immobile became the first Lazio player since Hernan Crespo in 2001 to find the back of the net on in five consecutive Serie A matches – his personal best is six rounds set in April 2014 for Torino.
Napoli claimed the double over Lazio last season with a 5-0 home win, before bagging a comprehensive 2-0 victory in the return leg. However, revenge is a dish best served cold and Lazio will certainly be eager to return the favour.
Get on the Both Teams To Score (Yes) and Totals, Over 2.5 Goals at 15/20.
Sunday 6 November
Pescara 27/20 | Draw 43/20 | Empoli 21/10
We kick-start Sunday with one of the least entertaining matches of the weekend. Pescara are without a win in nine matches, suffering three consecutive defeats and are winless on home soil, scoring just four goals in six games.
Empoli are winless in eight matches, conceding nine goals without scoring! Should they go another two games without scoring, they will equal the Serie A record run of 10 goalless matches set by Verona in 1978/79.
Scoring just twice in the first 11 games, Empoli are the least prolific side in the top five European Leagues since France’s Olympique Lillois got one goal in 1937/38.
This one looks pretty straight forward to call – Under 2.5 Goals at 13/20 is the way to go.
Genoa 17/20 | Draw 49/20 | Udinese 33/10
Genoa will be looking to maintain their unbeaten home record when they play host to Udinese on Sunday afternoon. The Grifone fell to a second defeat on the bounce and will be happy to return to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
Udinese are unbeaten in three matches after holding Torino to an entertaining 2-2 home draw last time out. Prior to that stalemate they had won back-to-back matches and they will be determined to return to winning ways. They have, however, struggled on their travels, going down three times in five games on the road.
The last five meetings between these teams have seen a total of 19 goals, with both sides finding the back of the net on each occasion.
Take Both Teams To Score (Yes) at 9/10.
Chievo 13/2 | Draw 32/10 | Juventus 9/20
Chievo are winless in their last four matches after going down 2-0 at basement-boys Crotone last Sunday evening. To make matters worse Juventus come to town in fine form as usual. The Old Lady have won six of their last seven outings and are strong favourites to build on that.
Juve have an excellent head-to-head record against Chievo, going unbeaten in the last 12 meetings.
Back Massimiliano Allegri’s men on the Halftime/Fulltime Double at 11/10.
Sassuolo 29/20 | Draw 43/20 | Atalanta 39/20
Sassuolo and Atalanta are next up to analyse. The home side have been poor of late with back-to-back losses, while Atalanta are unbeaten with five wins from their last six matches, so they will be brimming with confidence.
Can Atalanta continue to fire or will Sassuolo get past this poor slump of form? I think the latter is definitely the wiser option.
Go for Atalanta on the Handicap (+1) at 11/20.
Palermo 17/4 | Draw 28/10 | AC Milan 13/20
Palermo are now winless in six matches, including five defeats with four on the spin. They have lost all five of their home games, scoring just twice and conceding 12 times. AC Milan will be keen to build on their excellent form of six wins from eight matches.
The Rossoneri notched up a fourth straight home win last time out, something they hadn’t achieved in over a year, and have found the net in seven of their last eight matches. With 22 points after 11 rounds, it is the Milan’s best start in five years.
At 13/20 the Rossoneri are a tad short, so I recommend backing Over 2.5 Goals at 9/10 to get you a bit more value.
Inter Milan 1/4 | Draw 5/1 | Crotone 19/2
Frank de Boer is moving closer to the exit door after suffering a fourth defeat in five Serie A matches, going down 1-0 at Sampdoria, resulting in an eighth loss in 10 games on the road in all competitions. It’s the Nerazzurri’s worst start to a league campaign since the 2011/12 season and a drastic change is needed immediately.
Bottom-of-the-log Crotone will look to add more misery to Inter Milan after earning their first win of the season last time out, which came in the form of a 2-0 home win over Chievo. The Squali have taken the lead five times in 11 gameweeks, but had never previously kept it to the final whistle.
Many would suggest Inter to return to winning ways, but I think Crotone might carry a lot of momentum and confidence after their maiden victory last weekend.
The draw is priced up at a pretty hefty 5/1, so if you looking for value, look no further.
Fiorentina 11/20 | Draw 3/1 | Sampdoria 47/10
Fiorentina are unbeaten on home soil but claiming just two wins and three draws. Sampdoria have travelled poorly with four losses from six matches, scoring six times and conceding double that amount in the process.
Fiorentina are unbeaten in the last five home meetings against Sampdoria.
A tight encounter is expected but the Viola are tipped to claim maximum points.
Roma 3/10 | Draw 47/10 | Bologna 17/2
Roma and Bologna will end off round 12 on Sunday evening. The Giallorossi have won all five of their home games, scoring 17 goals and conceding just four times. Bologna extended their winless run to six matches last time out, going down 1-0 to Fiorentina.
The Rossoblu are without a win on their travels and have managed just one win against their opponents in the last 16 meetings.
Roma are offers little value at 3/10, rather get on the Total Goals (aggregated) market – 2-3 goals at 11/10.
TREBLE @ 25/1
Juventus HT/FT Win 11/10
Inter Milan Draw 5/1
Roma Totals (aggregated) - 2-3 Goals 11/10
