Australia will look to bounce back after their narrow defeat at the hands of India in game one in Adelaide.
Much of the talk ahead of the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar series has centred around the drop-in pitch to be used at the Perth Stadium.
Australia coach Justin Langer expects the traditional pace and bounce of the WACA to be replicated in the first ever Test at the new venue.
Australia vs India | 14 December - 18 December | Perth Stadium, Perth
To Win Match
Australia 12/10
Draw 5/1
India 12/10
Australia
Australia appeared yet again to be off the boil in all aspects of the game at some point during the first Test, but managed to remain competitive - and will be hopeful of giving themselves a chance at regaining the Border-Gavaskar trophy.
The resilience of the Australian lower-order gave them a sniff in Adelaide, but they need bigger contributions from the specialist batsmen in Perth - and Shaun Marsh will be the man they look to in particular as the senior batsman.
Nathan Lyon showed his undeniable value in the first Test with a six-wicket haul in the second innings, where he sent down 42 overs. Australia do need to get more out of strike bowler Mitchell Starc, though, and will be concerned with how Pat Cummins lost the plot in the second India dig.
Reserve quicks Chris Tremain and Peter Siddle are unlikely to be pressed into action if the pitch offers as much pace and bounce as expected.
India
India will naturally be delighted with the result they achieved in Adelaide, but as a team they will still be targeting improvement.
Cheteshwar Pujara was the tourists' rock in Adelaide and proved that the team don't have to rely on the brilliance of captain Virat Kohli who, misfired somewhat in India's 31-run win.
The skipper will want to contribute more to the cause, but at the same time will welcome the efforts of Pujara supported by Ajinkya Rahane.
Prithvi Shaw may be fit to resume a partnership at the top of the order with Lokesh Rahul, who was the more impressive of the openers in Adelaide. Shaw may be very young, but he is an exciting talent whose attacking intent could bring another dimension to India's top order.
India's bowlers all contributed to the cause in the first Test and that aspect of the team seems to be settled, barring any injuries.
Verdict: India 12/10
India have all the momentum now and should turn the screw in Perth - and inflict more misery on the hosts.
