The likes of Orlando Pirates must have used the FIFA international break to fix their problems while the likes of Kaizer Chiefs may have worked on ensuring that their momentum remains unbroken when club football returns. This is Amakhosi’s golden opportunity to extend their lead at the summit of the PSL standings as Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits are involved in continental football.

This rivalrous clash of these crosstown rivals has far reaching relevance as AmaZulu anchor the Absa Premiership table, having collected just one point in four games. The winless spell has seen some fans calling for coach Cavin Johnson’s head. It was good to see the General Manager Lunga Sokhela publicly backing the coach on Sunday and it remains to be seen if he upholds that vote of confidence should this result not favour his team.
On the other hand, Steve Komphela’s Golden Arrows have lost one game so far this season and they have collected seven out of a possible 12 points. Goalkeeper Edmore Sibanda and captain Matome Mathiane were standout performers against Orlando Pirates and they will once again be key in this encounter.
My money is on Arrows.

Chippa United 5/1
Orlando Pirates have been playing well but they have nothing to show for it as they’re enduring a goal drought in recent weeks. They haven’t found the back of the net since putting three past Celtic on the opening day. Austin Muwowo made his debut the last time out and he showed glimpses of brilliance.
Chippa United are one of the four winless teams so far this season which has put coach Clinton Larsen’s job at risk. Turning their fortunes around against a hungry Pirates team is a tough ask.
I foresee the Buccaneers returning to winning ways.
Kaizer Chiefs 9/10

Polokwane City 33/10
Amakhosi sit atop the Absa Premiership standings with a near-perfect record of 10 out of a possible 12 points. Their resilient fighting spirit saw them come back from a goal down to record a 2-1 victory over Cape Town City the last time out. Daniel Akpeyi has improved this season which has solved the goalkeeping problems which haunted them in the previous campaign.
Polokwane City have conceded only one goal in four league games which shows how hard they are to beat. Having lost only once in the league, Rise and Shine sit in fifth place with seven points.
This match is likely to end in a draw.
SuperSport United 27/20

Cape Town City 9/4
This is one of the most exciting rivalries in the Absa Premiership as these teams are known for meeting each other in cup competitions. Since Cape Town City’s formation in 2016, they have already met each other in three cup finals and once in a knockout stage of a cup competition.
SuperSport have been impressive this season with Bradley Grobler and Thamsanqa Gabuza scoring goals for fun. Cape Town City’s lack of depth saw coach Benni McCarthy playing Edmilson Dove at centre back the last time out and they lost 2-1 to Kaizer Chiefs. Being unable to hold on to leads has been their main downfall as they threw away two points against Baroka as well after leading 2-0.

These Limpopo teams have started the season in a somewhat indifferent way with mixed bags of results. Leopards have not scored more than one goal in a match so far this season and they head into the derby with a record of two loses, one win and a draw.
Baroka have two draws, one win and a defeat which makes this a potentially boring game. With both sides failing to find the back of the net with ease, expect a low-scoring affair. This has draw written all over it.

Stellenbosch 9/4
Celtic have won one game so far this season and they must be feeling hard done by pity as the brand of football they’re playing deserves more. They will be having home ground advantage when they host the rookies who are winless so far this season. I don’t see newly-promoted Stellies causing an upset in front of a vociferous Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium. A Celtic win is tipped at 27/20.
