Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips for Monday's racing at Bath, Hamilton and Wolverhampton.
Bath Best Bets
Race 1: GLEEDS GIRL (12)
Trainer: Mick Channon
Jockey: Tom Marquand
GLEEDS GIRL really takes the eye on her handicap debut following a frame finish in a Newbury maiden that reads well. Also placed on her previous start at Brighton, she's suffered from greenness but should now know what to do against tough rivals in Alex James and Colonel Whitehead but that pair are drawn low which is usually a disadvantage here.
Race 2: BENTLEY WOOD (2)
Trainer: Mick Channon
Jockey: Tom Marquand
There was plenty of market support for
BENTLEY WOOD at Redcar last week but the colt never looked like laying a glove on the impressive Convict. Perhaps being drawn well away from the winner proved problematical for this staying type who is well worth another chance as he steps up from seven furlongs to a mile.
Hamilton Best Bets
Race 2: QUIRKY GERTIE (5)
Trainer: Mick Channon
Jockey: Andrea Atzeni
The stiff finish here should play to the strengths of
QUIRKY GERTIE who returns in good order following a short break. She found six furlongs at Windsor too sharp when a running on fifth behind Eye Of The Water on her latest start back in August. Taken off her feet in the early stages, she was forced to switch left at the quarter pole and should have finished a lot closer. Furthermore, should ground conditions deteriorate it shouldn't bother her.
Race 5: JEANNIE B (8)
Trainer: Mick Channon
Jockey: Danny Tudhope
JEANNIE B landed some good bets when opening her account at Pontefract, pinging the lids and gamely holding off Sprit Of The Sky. This going will be new territory for her but her family have handled it, an indication she will be all right. She has runners from some of the top northern stables in opposition but is in very good form and can follow up.
Wolverhampton Best Bets
Race 3: PRETTY LADY (9)
Trainer: Mark Johnston
Jockey: PJ McDonald
PRETTY LADY finished Hot on the heels of a couple of subsequent winners when just out of the money in her debut at Catterick. On of three fillies in this race dominated by colts, she's capable of producing plenty of improvement and taking full advantage of the 12lb she receives from previous winner and main danger Brad The Brief.
Race 6: MONOGOMY (12)
Trainer: Martyn Meade
Jockey: Rob Hornby
MONOGOMY ran well on her debut at Newbury last year and also moved strongly for a large part of her comeback outing at Sandown back in April. She's not been the easiest to train but with this step back in trip and the assist of a first time hood she can upset the only previous winner and likely favourite Fortamour.
