Round 3 of the 2019/20 Gallagher Premiership season will get underway on Friday the 1st of November. Darry Worthington previews all the action below.
There are only two unbeaten teams remaining after Round two with both Gloucester and Northampton registering perfect starts to the campaign with successive victories.
This season is shaping up to be a very competitive one and we may well see some drastic changes on the log this weekend.
Northampton Saints v Harlequins
Friday 11 November
Franklin's Gardens
21:45
To Win (80 Mins)
Northampton 9/20
Draw 18/1
Harlequins 18/10
Handicap
Northampton (-5.5) 17/20
Harlequins (+5.5) 17/20
Harlequins will be looking for their second win of the campaign when they travel to Northampton to take on the log-leading Saints. The hosts followed up their opening round 25-27 victory over reigning-champions Saracens with a 35-16 victory over the Worcester Warriors.
The visitors head into this one off of a win and a loss as they went down 22-19 to Exeter in the opening round before bouncing back in Round 2 with a gritty 22-17 victory over a dangerous Bristol Bears outfit.
Verdict: Northampton (-5.5) 9/10
I rather fancy the hosts to clear the 'cap here. They are in great form and should put in a solid shift in front of their home faithful.
Bristol Bears v Sale Sharks
Friday 1 November
Ashton Gate
21:35
To Win (80 Mins)
Bristol 6/10
Draw 18/1
Sale 29/20
Handicap
Bristol (-3.5) 17/20
Sale (+3.5) 17/20
Bristol will be looking to bounce back from their five-point defeat to Harlequins while Sale will be looking to build on their mammoth 7-41 victory over new boys London Irish when they two sides square off on Sunday evening.
The hosts will be gunning for their second win of the campaign with their first victory coming on the opening weekend where they beat Bath 43-16.
Sale's had a tougher time of it in Round 1 as they went down 16-18 to Gloucester on home soil.
Verdict: Sale (+3.5) 17/20
I reckon this will be a close run thing, and that's why I will be backing the away side on the plus line.
Leicester Tigers v Gloucester
Saturday 2 November
Welford Road
17:00
To Win (80 Mins)
Leicester 16/10
Draw 20/1
Gloucester 11/20
Gloucester will be looking to maintain their unbeaten streak when they take on a Leicester side that is rooted to the foot of the log.
The visitors have given solid accounts of themselves in their opening two games beating Sale 16-18 in Round 1 and Wasps 25-9 in Round 2.
Leicester have endured a far tougher start losing 24-16 to Worcester in Round 1 and 10-24 to a depleted Saracens side in Round 2.
Verdict: Gloucester
I can't see Johan Ackermann's charges having any issues here. My money is on them taking this one by more than eight points.
Wasps v Bath
Saturday 2 November
Ricoh Arena
17:00
To Win (80 Mins)
Wasps 6/10
Draw 18/1
Bath 14/10
Wasps will be looking for their first win of the campaign when they take on a Bath side that hasn't quite been at the races during the early salvos of the season.
The hosts lost their first fixture 26-29 to London Irish and followed that up with an equally disappointing 25-9 defeat to Gloucester.
Unlike Wasps, Bath have managed to claim a win this term as they beat Exeter 13-10 last weekend.
Verdict: Bath 14/10
I have not been impressed by this Wasps side while Bath showed they can miss it with the best during last weekend's narrow victory over a solid Exeter side.
Saracens v London Irish
Saturday 2 November
Allianz Park
17:00
To Win (80 Mins)
Saracens 1/20
Draw 40/1
London Irish 7/1
Saracens will be looking to make it back-to-back wins when they take on new boys London Irish out in North London.
The hosts bounced back from their 25-27 opening day defeat to Northampton by beating the Leicester Tigers 24-10 in Round 2.
London Irish, who enjoyed a great start to the campaign with a three point victory over Wasps, were brought crashing down to earth last weekend as they were smashed 7-41 by a handy yet far from spectacular Sale Sharks outfit.
Verdict: Saracens
The reigning champs should have far too much firepower here. I can see them taking this one by more than 15 points.
Worcester Warriors v Exeter Chiefs
Sunday 3 November
Sixways Stadium
17:00
To Win (80 Mins)
Worcester 51/20
Draw 20/1
Exeter 3/10
We close out Round 2 out in Worcester where the Warriors take on a wounded but dangerous Exeter outfit.
The Chiefs come to town off the back of an extremely disappointing 13-10 away defeat to Bath. This was not the result they were looking for having won their opening round game against Harlequins 22-19.
Worcester have also drawn one and lost one this term beating Leicester 24-16 in Round 1 before succumbing to a 35-16 loss to Northampton last weekend.
Verdict: Exeter 3/10
I full expect a backlash here. I can see the visitors winning this one by more than 10.
