The forthright horseman
Brett Crawford was quietly confident in his assessment of
Undercover Agent when saying:
“He has come out of the Queen’s Plate fine and I am happy with him. There are a few frontrunners in this year’s contest which should ensure a decent pace but Do It Again is obviously the horse to beat. The race looks competitive beyond the top rating though."
"I have many other runners on the day but it is difficult to single out one on such a competitive race-day.”

Bill Prestage saddles his first Met runner
Milton, who has caught the eye throughout the season, dictating matters and his conditioner seemed to think he was up to the stiff task when commenting:
“His prep has gone fine and although it will be difficult, I am expecting a good run. He is my only runner on the day and I am interested to see how he fares against the likes of Do It Again and Rainbow Bridge.”

Sean Tarry often arrives with purpose and is definitely a conditioner who seems to thrive on South Africa’s feature racedays. A winner of the Met in 2005 with Alastor and seeking another with arguably the best miler in the country
Legal Eagle. Trainer Sean Tarry commented:
“His prep has gone smoothly and although it has been well-documented that he was quiet on Queen’s Plate day, he did take his gallop well and seems to have turned the corner. I am expecting a true run race but I don’t think the pace will be too hard.
"The big threats in the race are clear with Do It Again and Rainbow Bridge having shown their potential and I won’t be surprised if Oh Susanna is up there again.”

Joey Ramsden understands the daunting task at hand in this year’s Sun Met but is still optimistic in a contest that has had its fair share of upsets over the years. He seemed upbeat about his runner
Hat Puntano when commenting:
“His penultimate run was very good but his latest was a bit disappointing. He is a quirky fellow and I am hoping he can run into a place. Whenever I think the pace will be quick they go slow and vice versa so my opinion shouldn’t matter.
"His biggest danger is himself considering his nature and my best runner on the day has got to be Twist Of Fate.”

Champion trainer
Justin Snaith seeks back-to back Met triumphs when he saddles a quartet of runners in this year’s premier race. The charismatic trainer was kind enough to comment on the preparation of all his runners and was especially bullish about the favourite and also reigning champion
Oh Susanna. He had the following to say:
“
Do It Again seems to be in cruise control, everything is going according to plan and he will be a tough nut to crack."
"
Oh Susanna's has also been perfect, she is spot on and is one of the horses to beat."
"I’m very happy with
Made To Conquer, he should be spot on too and the blinkers could make a difference."
"
Doublemint is another one of my horses having their third run after a rest and although he has a tough task at the weights, he is still a horse on the up.”

Glen Kotzen is yet to taste victory in the Met but his runner
Eyes Wide Open interestingly defeated this year’s favourite Do It Again in the Cape Derby as a three-year old exactly one year ago. Glen commented:
“This has been his target from the onset of the season. Looking at the field and where they are drawn I think the pace is going to be on. I see Do It Again as the main threat and my best runner for the day is Cat Daddy.”

Trainer
Eric Sands has interestingly engaged the services of top jockey Anton Marcus for his charge and the experienced horseman was short and sweet in his comments about
Rainbow Bridge when replying:
“His prep has gone really well. I am expecting a true run race which will ultimately reveal the best horse in the contest. The filly Oh Susanna could be a real threat again this year but stable jockey Richard Fourie has opted for Do It Again.”

| Vaughan Marshall aims for another Met victory |
Trainer
Vaughan Marshall is notorious for turning out his horses immaculately and it is likely that
TAP O’ NOTH will be a picture on parade this Saturday afternoon. The Cape trainer tasted success in this race in 2014 and felt things weren’t cut and dried this year when mentioning:
“I am very pleased with him, he has had a very similar prep to Hill Fifty Four. I see a decent pace with Milton and a couple others going up there, which I’m happy with. Do It Again is the real danger and Oh Susanna will be a threat again but the race isn’t run on paper. One World is my best runner on the card.”
