The final international break of the season is done and dusted. No more interruptions as the Premier League run-in heats up.
Before the last interval, Liverpool overtook Manchester City at the top of the table, in what was the only movement in the league standings.
Pep Guardiola’s Citizens will look to regain their top spot with the Reds hosting Tottenham, while City have a double header against Fulham and Cardiff. The race for top four also heats up with Chelsea looking to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat at Everton, failing to put pressure on the three sides above them who are all competing for two places. Club football is back with a double dose of action, so let’s get straight to it!

Under Scott Parker, Fulham have looked a much better side. They’ve lost all three games under the tutelage of the Englishman, but have caused problems for their opponents in each encounter. In fact, the Cottagers have scored in all three matches played under Parker. Manchester City, though, have been in rampant form, coming from behind to win 3-2 at Swansea, whilst also winning 7-0 in their Champions League tie before that against Schalke. I’d back Fulham to score here, but nothing more. Take Manchester City to Win & Both Teams to Score at 11/10!

Brighton and Southampton go head-to-head with both teams looking to distance themselves from the drop zone. The hosts went into the break in a superb run of form, winning their last two league encounters and managing to edge Millwall out in the FA Cup to reach the semi-finals. Southampton also went into the break perhaps at an unwanted time, especially after beating Tottenham 2-1 at home in their last fixture. These sides played to a drama-filled 2-2 stalemate the last time they met in the league, and I’m expecting no different here. Back Over 2.5 Goals at 27/20.

Crystal Palace were blowing hot and cold before the FIFA break, so perhaps the interval came at the best possible time. The Eagles had lost two of their last three league games and were dumped out of the FA Cup by Watford. Huddersfield’s drop to the Championship is inevitable now, but they have shown great fighting spirit in recent weeks, most notably in their 4-3 defeat at West Ham, where they were once 3-1 up in the game. Palace have been far from convincing at home, losing their last two encounters at Selhurst Park. My money is on the Away Win/Draw Double Chance at 15/10.

After that impressive 3-1 win at Paris Saint-Germain, its been a bit of a downward spiral for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norwegian caretaker boss suffered back-to-back defeats against Arsenal, their first loss in the league, while United were also dumped out of the FA Cup at Wolves. For Watford, I’m sure they’d just like the horror run of away matches to end, having recently visited Liverpool and Manchester City in the league. As expected, the Hornets came out with no sting in their tails, but could fancy their chances against a Manchester United side that hadn’t looked the part before the break. United have still suffered just one defeat at home in this campaign and should pick up maximum points against Watford, who tend to struggle away to the top six sides.

Just when they thought they were home and dry, Burnley seem to be dragged back into a relegation scramble after losing four consecutive league matches. To make matters worse, the Clarets’ home form leaves a lot to be desired from, losing their last two ties at Turf Moor to Crystal Palace and Leicester City. Wolves, on the other hand, drew at Chelsea in their last away game and knocked Manchester United out of the FA Cup after that. Wolves won the reverse fixture 1-0 courtesy of a Raul Jimenez strike, and with the Mexican goal-getter in even better form this time around, the away win is tipped here at a valuable 14/10.

Rejuvenated Leicester City will look to continue their surge up the table when they host Bournemouth this Saturday. After losing his first match in charge, Brendan Rodgers seems to be finding his feet back in England, winning successive matches over Fulham and Burnley. Bournemouth have been a joy to watch this season, but away from home, the Cherries have been an eye-sore, losing 11 of their 15 matches played away from the Vitality Stadium. Leicester will be without Harry Maguire who was suspended in his last game, so the likes of Callum Wilson and Josh King should cause enough problems for the Foxes. Still, an away win seems highly unlikely here. Take the Home Win/Draw Double Chance & Both Teams to Score at even money.

Saturday’s action concludes with what should be an enthralling matchup between West Ham and Everton. Both sides come off the back of impressive results, much in their own way, with the Hammers showing great fight to come back from 3-1 down, eventually claiming a 4-3 victory. Meanwhile, Everton managed a well-deserved 2-0 win over Chelsea to get their season back on track under Marco Silva. At the London Stadium, West Ham have been superb of late, winning their last three ties in front of their home crowd, as well as holding Liverpool to a 1-1 draw prior to that trifecta of fixtures. Cardiff got back to winning ways before the international break, beating West Ham 2-0 in what was the Welsh club’s last matchup. Prior to that impressive result, Neil Warnock’s side went on a three-game losing streak. Chelsea were disappointedly beaten at Everton last time out and were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Wolves, so the Blues have an unwanted two-game winless run. The last time these sides met, Chelsea came out 4-1 victors with Eden Hazard netting a hat-trick that game. This time around, its tricky to predict what sort of outcome we will get, with Cardiff fighting for their lives at the bottom of the pile, while Chelsea have been out of sorts of late. Wolves have actually done well against the top six sides in England this season and have a two-game unbeaten record against Man United this season, drawing 1-1 at Old Trafford. The Red Devils have lost their last two away games across all competitions, with certain superstars in the team struggling for form of late. The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium pulls back its curtains for the first time this season as Tottenham host Crystal Palace in a London derby next Wednesday. At the time of writing, Spurs have won just one of their last five games across all competitions, and their trip to Anfield could certainly dampen that record and make it one win in six. Crystal Palace have been much better away from home this term, losing just one of their last six away games, which came at Liverpool, winning four times in that run – against Manchester City, Wolves, Leicester City and Burnley. At 8/10, Both Teams to Score seems the best bet here.

Chelsea need to get their confidence back if they are to get their season back on track and push for a place in the top four. The Blues head into this game after travelling from Wales to play Cardiff, but before that, Maurizio Sarri’s men had gone two games in the league without a win. At home, Chelsea have been much more convincing, enduring a five-game unbeaten run, conceding just twice in that run. Brighton are still in trouble at the bottom of the table and have avoided defeat in just five of their 15 games, winning three times. Chelsea should be considered as a banker here – back them on the (-1) Handicap for more value at 13/20.

If all goes according to plan on the weekend, Manchester City could face Cardiff looking to regain their spot at the top of the Premier League table. Pep Guardiola’s charges have won six in a row in the league, and 10 across all competitions. In fact, during that run, we’ve seen some ridiculous scorelines, including a 9-0 win, a 5-0 victory over Burnley, a 6-0 annihilation over Chelsea and two 7-0 scorelines, one of which came in their last home game against Schalke in the UEFA Champions League. City won 5-0 in the reverse fixture in Cardiff and should hammer the Welsh club yet again. Take Man City to Win by Three or More Goals here at 6/10.
