Our soccer analyst previews the German Bundesliga week 27 action which kicks off on Friday 29 March 2019.
Club football returns this week with the title race hitting its peak as Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich remain level on 60 points with just eight rounds to go.
The Bavarians have slowly made their way back to the top of the table, leading BVB on goal difference. Let’s find out what’s cooking in gameweek 27!
Standings provided by Sofascore LiveScore
Friday 29 March
Hoffenheim 5/4
Draw 29/10
Bayer Leverkusen 18/10
Hoffenheim have struggled to find winning form in recent weeks but have won back-to-back games on home soil, scoring five goals and conceding just once. Bayer Leverkusen have won four of their last five travels which should make this a cracking contest!
I’m expecting a goal fest with the last three meetings between these sides producing 14 goals.
Both Halves Over 1.5 goals – Yes – is tipped at 21/10.
Saturday 30 March
Dortmund 5/10
Draw 34/10
Wolfsburg 5/1
Borussia Dortmund have won three of their last four games, including two wins on the bounce. Wolfsburg come off the back of a 5-2 home win over Dusseldorf and have done fairly well on their travels.
BVB are unbeaten in the last seven meetings against the Wolves with six wins and are likely to add to that.
Get on the home win.
Werder Bremen 13/20
Draw 3/1
Mainz 37/10
Werder Bremen are unbeaten in their last nine league games with back-to-back victories. Mainz have been dreadful in recent weeks with three losses on the trot, scoring just once and conceding nine goals.
It’s fair to say, the River Islanders have been the better side and to make matters worse, Mainz have lost their last four travels.
The home win is tipped.
Freiburg 19/2
Draw 5/1
Bayern Munich 1/4
Freiburg are coming off a hard-earned 1-1 draw away to Monchengladbach and return to home soil, where they have won two on the bounce. Bayern Munich have been on a mission with six wins in a row, including a 6-0 thrashing of Mainz before the international break.
I can only see this game going in favour of the table-toppers.
Bayern Munich are tipped on the Half-time/Full-time Double at 13/20.
Dusseldorf 2/1
Draw 5/2
Monchengladbach 5/4
Dusseldorf have been poor of late with two consecutive losses, scoring only twice and conceding eight times. Monchengladbach had been on a slump prior to the international break, so hopefully they will be back to their best.
The Borussians' place in the top four is in doubt with Eintracht Frankfurt applying the pressure.
Back ‘Gladbach to rise to the occasion and bag all three points.
Nuremburg 37/20
Draw 9/4
Augsburg 15/10
Bottom of the log Nuremburg have been horrendous as they are without a win in their last 20 league games. Augsburg are undefeated in their last three matches but are winless in their last eight games on the road.
Desperation will kick in and the hosts will be looking to capitalize on home advantage on Saturday. Augsburg have travelled poorly but their opponents have a poor goal scoring record.
The Totals – Under 2.5 Goals – market is tipped at 15/20.
Leipzig 9/20
Draw 34/10
Hertha Berlin 11/2
Leipzig are unbeaten in their last eight league games with five wins, including a hard-fought 1-0 win at Schalke last time out. Hertha Berlin have been poor in recent weeks with three losses from their last four matches.
The Red Bulls won the reverse tie 3-0 and will be looking to claim the double on Saturday evening.
It won’t be cut and dry, but Leipzig are tipped to utilize home advantage.
Sunday 31 March
Hannover 7/2
Draw 11/4
Schalke 15/20
Hannover have lost their last six matches in all competitions, scoring only four goals and conceding 22 times. Schalke have also been in terrible form with four losses on the spin, scoring just twice and conceding 12 times.
Both teams are obviously struggling to score goals, so I will try using that to my advantage.
Take Under 2.5 Goals at 9/10.
Eintracht Frankfurt 9/20
Draw 15/4
Stuttgart 52/10
And finally, Eintracht Frankfurt will be looking to continue their red-hot form of 13 games unbeaten with four consecutive wins. Stuttgart come off the back of a hard-fought 1-1 home draw against Hoffenheim which should give the team an extra boost coming into this match.
While I do feel Stuttgart can grab a goal, I think that’s about all they will be able to take from this clash.
Get on the Matchbet & Both Teams to Score – Eintracht Franktfurt & Yes – at 33/20.
TREBLE TIPPED @ 11/2
Dortmund Win 5/10
Bayern Munich HT-FT Win 13/20
Eintracht Frankfurt Win & BTTS 33/20
