The Premier League showed yet again why club football was so eagerly-anticipated during the international break with some great games on show this past weekend.
Liverpool’s winning streak ended at Old Trafford with Manchester United holding the log leaders to a 1-1 draw. That result meant that Manchester City closed the gap from eight points to six after they cruised past Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. Elsewhere, Chelsea and Leicester City kept up the pressure with victories over the weekend.
Friday 25 October
Southampton 22/10
Draw 24/10
Leicester City 5/4
(21:00)
Southampton’s winless run continued when they let their 1-0 lead slip at Wolves to draw the game 1-1. That result did end a run of three consecutive losses, and perhaps it’s a step in the right direction, but the Saints remain winless at home and will be put to the test yet again against Leicester City. The Foxes returned to winning ways, claiming a much-needed 2-1 win over Burnley. Its tough to go against Leicester considering their recent results and performances, and with Jamie Vardy now hitting his stride, 5/4 looks great value on the away win.
Saturday 26 October
Manchester City 1/8
Draw 8/1
Aston Villa 20/1
(13:30)
Manchester City got back to winning ways with a comfortable 2-0 at Crystal Palace. With Liverpool dropping points at Manchester United, City still hold their record for successive wins in the league (18), while Pep Guardiola’s men narrowed the gap to just six points behind. Aston Villa made it back-to-back victories in the league, claiming a last-gasp winner over Brighton to win the match 2-1. Villa have looked sharp in recent matchups, but a tie against the champions could prove to be too high of a mountain to climb. The Home Team Totals Over 3.5 Goals is tipped at 11/10.
Brighton 7/4
Draw 9/4
Everton 33/20
(16:00)
Brighton slumped to yet another defeat this season when they went down 2-1 at Aston Villa. That was the Seagulls’ fourth loss in nine games with Graham Potter’s men now just one point above the relegation zone. Everton’s losing streak ended in superb fashion, claiming a convincing 2-0 victory over West Ham. Marco Silva got his tactics spot on as well as his team selection with the double pivot of Andre Gomes and Tom Davies proving to be a huge success in the match. Its not going to be a straightforward encounter, but Everton are tipped to edge it at 33/20.
Watford 12/10
Draw 26/10
Bournemouth 43/20
(16:00)
Watford are still in search of their first victory this season but come off the back of a commendable display at Tottenham, earning a 1-1 draw. Quique Sanchez Flores has proven that he knows how to handle the big guns, but his failure to put the smaller teams to bed could cost him his job in the coming months. Bournemouth remained in the top half of the table despite their winless run continuing for a third consecutive game. The Cherries tend to give it a go no matter the opposition and the venue, so you can expect the same here. Over 2.5 Goals seems the best bet here at 11/20.
West Ham 11/10
Draw 49/20
Sheffield United 26/10
(16:00)
West Ham have been inconsistent this season and at this point, we don’t really know what to expect from the Hammers. From their opening nine games, Manuel Pellegrini’s men have won three, drawn three and lost three. This weekend, they seek three points against a fiery Sheffield United side. The Blades come off the back of an incredible 1-0 victory over Arsenal on Monday night. Chris Wilder’s men moved into the top half of the table with that result and will look to continue their unbeaten run on the road. Under 2.5 Goals offers decent value at 9/10.
Burnley 49/20
Draw 29/10
Chelsea 8/10
(18:30)
In one of the ties of the weekend, Saturday’s action concludes at Turf Moor where Burnley square off with Chelsea in the ultimate clash of tactics. Sean Dyche’s Clarets prove to be stern opposition against any side in the division and will offer huge physical presence in their attack, a tactic that wouldn’t suit Frank Lampard’s pacey and energetic youngsters. Chelsea are fearless and will look for gaps in the Burnley defence, which will be a tough test for Tammy Abraham as he looks to extend to his tally of eight league goals this season. For me, Both Teams to Score looks the obvious bet at 6/10.
Sunday 27 October
Newcastle United 2/1
Draw 2/1
Wolves 31/20
(16:00)
Sunday’s program kicks off at St. James’ Park where Newcastle and Wolves go toe-to-toe as both clubs look to return to winning ways. The hosts are still in the relegation zone after going down 1-0 at Chelsea, while Wolves’ win of successive victories came to an end, although not without controversy as VAR proved to be the deciding factor in their 1-1 stalemate with Southampton. As much as Wolves have so much quality in attack, defending and shutting out the opposition seems to be their main instruction from Nuno Espirito Santo. Under 2.5 Goals is tipped at 11/20.
Norwich City 32/10
Draw 28/10
Manchester United 8/10
(18:30)
After Manchester United defied the odds, surprisingly, and got a draw against Liverpool, ending their 17-game winning streak, all eyes will be on the Red Devils to see if they can kick on from that performance and mount a real challenge to get back amongst the top six. United are still two points above the relegation zone, and coincidentally, the last time they visited the side that was currently in 19th place, they lost 1-0 to Newcastle. Norwich will offer a completely different threat to Newcastle, and will be much more expansive, at the same time, much more clinical. With Anthony Martial now back for Manchester United, the Red Devils will have much more direction up front. They do, however, travel to Belgrade on Thursday. Both Teams to Score looks the safest bet here at 11/20.
Liverpool 5/10
Draw 7/2
Tottenham 5/1 (18:30)

Arsenal 9/20
Draw 37/10
Crystal Palace 11/2
(18:30)
Arsenal dropped out of the top four after losing 1-0 to Sheffield United on Monday night. The Gunners failed to create any clear-cut chances and perhaps that was down to Unai Emery getting his team selection wrong. Crystal Palace were also on the losing end this past weekend, going down 2-0 at home to Manchester City. Like Arsenal, Palace offered very little in attack, while their defence looked shakier than the Titanic. The Gunners are much stronger at home and should bounce back at 9/20.
TREBLE @ 6/1
Leicester City Win 5/4
Man City Totals Over 3.5 Goals 11/10
Arsenal Win 9/20
