PURPLE PERSUASION wasn't disgraced in her last two starts in stronger company. The form of the Grade 2 Debutante has worked out well with there being quite a few horses that have come out and won since. The daughter of Master Of My Fate makes her handicap and seasonal debut this afternoon with top jockey Anton Marcus in the saddle. Alyson Wright is no stranger to bringing horses back ready to win on their return.
Race 7: SOCRATES (1)
Jockey: K De Melo - Trainer: D Kannemeyer
SOCRATES has very good consistent form. He was his own worst enemy last time as he did not settle in the early stages. He did, however, manage to stay on well at the business end of the race. The son of Horse Chestnut has won two out of three starts on this course and finished second in the other. He comes off a 29-week rest but is a classy sort and may be better than the rest of the field.

MISSION BEACH has produced some fair form to date. She ran a moderate race last time, but was reported to be not striding out. The daughter of Linngari gets the blinkers fitted for the first time this afternoon and if suited, she can cause an upset.
