As we head into the final month of the year, Napoli refuse to give up their place at the summit. Inter Milan are just two points off the leaders, while reigning champions Juventus are placed third on the standings.
The Serie A hasn’t been this entertaining for years with Juve dominating proceedings season after season. But that all looks a thing of the past, with Napoli and Inter Milan looking ready to break the Old Lady’s hold on the Scudetto.
Friday 1 December
Roma 1/5 | Draw 57/10 | Spal 12/1 (19:30)
Roma were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw at Genoa last time out and will gladly return to their ground where they have won their last three games. Spal have been dreadful on their travels as they remain winless with five losses from seven matches, scoring just four goals and conceding 13.
Roma should be too strong at home for the relegation candidates. One team fighting for the title and the other battling relegation – who will come out on top?
That’s actually a rhetorical question – back the hosts on the (-1) Handicap at 5/10.
Napoli 21/20 | Draw 49/20 | Juventus 5/2 (21:45)
Napoli and Juventus will lock horns in what is undoubtedly the Serie A match of the week. The Azzurri remain unbeaten this season with 12 wins from 14 matches, scoring 35 goals and conceding just nine times.
Juventus have won 11 of their 14 games and if they manage to edge the win, they will creep within one point of the table-toppers.
However, Napoli look a different beast this season and are tipped on the Win/Draw Double Chance with Both Teams to Score – Yes – at 23/20.
Saturday 2 December
Torino 29/20 | Draw 47/20 | Atalanta 18/10 (21:45)
Torino are unbeaten in their last four matches but have drawn their last three. Atalanta are coming off a hard-fought 1-0 home win over relegation-bound Benevento.
Both sides have been struggling to score goals in recent weeks, so choosing a winner could prove difficult.
Instead, I will suggest back the Under 2.5 Goals market at even money.
Sunday 3 December
Benevento 7/1 | Draw 39/10 | AC Milan 7/20 (13:30)
Sunday’s curtain raiser pits bottom-dwellers Benevento up against newly-appointed Gennaro Gattuso’s AC Milan. The newcomers have been embarrassing, losing all 14 matches this term and at this point look as though they are only playing for pride.
To be honest, I don’t have much to go on and back the Rossoneri. AC Milan are likely to play more defensively under their new manager, while Benevento have been solid in recent weeks, suffering three consecutive narrow defeats.
The Totals – Under 2.5 Goals – market should be backed once again at 6/10.
Bologna 1/1 | Draw 47/20 | Cagliari 28/10 (16:00)
Bologna will take on Cagliari at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara on Sunday afternoon. The home side have been impressive of late with two wins on the bounce, while Cagliari have travelled dismally with five losses from seven matches.
Bologna have won the last four meetings against Cagliari, scoring seven goals and conceding just once.
It won’t be cut and dry but the home win is on the cards.
Fiorentina 6/10 | Draw 31/10 | Sassuolo 17/4 (16:00)
Fiorentina have been poor in recent weeks and remain without a win in their last four matches. However, they are coming off a hard-fought 1-1 draw away to Lazio and will be determined to build on that result.
Sassuolo have been dismal with four losses from their last five matches.
Fiorentina have won back-to-back matches on home soil against them and are tipped to make it three on the trot.
Inter Milan 4/10 | Draw 37/10 | Chievo Verona 6/1 (16:00)
Inter Milan are undefeated with 11 wins and three draws from 14 matches. They will know that should Napoli lose to Juventus, they will be able to leapfrog the former and take first place. Chievo ended a run of four games without a win after claiming a 2-1 victory over Spal 2013.
The 4/10 on offer for the home win is quite a steal given that it’s a must-win game for Inter.
The home team should be backed and added to all weekend multiples.
Sampdoria 47/20 | Draw 26/10 | Lazio 21/20 (21:45)
Sampdoria are the only team in the league to win all of their home games, however, they were hammered 3-0 at Bologna last time out and might be a little low on confidence after that humbling. Lazio have won six of their seven travels but have struggled in recent weeks.
This contest is expected to go down to the wire and it’s one that I would suggest staying away from. But if you must have a go, I can’t seem to separate these teams.
The draw is the way to go.
Monday 4 December
Crotone 17/10 | Draw 21/10 | Udinese 7/4 (20:00)
On to Monday night and first on the menu is a clash between Crotone and Udinese. The home side have lost back-to-back matches and their opponents have been just as poor.
Home advantage was the difference last term and this season might be a similar story.
However, both meetings last season also produced Under 2.5 goals and with both sides battling to score goals in recent weeks, I’m tempted to follow the trend at 13/20.
Hellas Verona 24/10 | Draw 23/10 | Genoa 23/20 (22:00)
Hellas Verona are second from bottom on the standings with just two wins from 14 games. Genoa have also only managed two wins from 14 matches but will be high on confidence following their respectable and well-earned 1-1 home draw against Roma last weekend.
Neither team has the sort of attack-minded players that can take the game by the scruff of the neck.
There could be a bit of value in the Both Halves Under 1.5 Goals market at 13/10 – get on!
