Our soccer pundit previews the German Bundesliga week 11 action which kicks off on Friday 3 November 2017.
Just three weeks ago Borussia Dortmund were leading Bayern Munich by five points and now three games on, the Bavarians have not only leapfrogged BVB but are now ahead by three points as well. Just to spice things up, the two giants will square off on Saturday evening in what promises to be a fiery affair. We’re just 11 rounds in and this campaign is turning out to be a cracker of note! Let’s find out what’s good on the betting front this weekend.
Friday 3 November
Ein. Frankfurt 15/20 | Draw 26/10 | Werder Bremen 37/10 (21:30)
Eintracht Frankfurt stretched their unbeaten run to four matches last time out with a hard-fought 1-1 draw away to Mainz.
Werder Bremen, on the other hand, remain without a win, scoring just three times and conceding 12 times. Eintracht Frankfurt are unbeaten at home in the last seven head-to-heads against Werder Bremen and are tipped to build on that.
The home win is well worth a punt!
Saturday 4 November
Monchengladbach 7/10 | Draw 3/1 | Mainz 36/10 (16:30)
Monchengladbach have been in great form in recent weeks with three wins from their last four matches, including an impressive 3-1 victory at Hoffenheim last time out.
Mainz are winless on the road with three losses from four matches, scoring just once and conceding eight times.
With that being said, I’m going to keep this short and sweet – back the home team for the win.
Freiburg 26/10 | Draw 24/10 | Schalke 21/20 (16:30)
Freiburg have been terrible with just one win from 10 matches. However, they do remain unbeaten on their ground, drawing four times and claiming just one win from five games. Schalke are undefeated in their last four matches with two draws and two wins.
Freiburg have won the last two meetings at home against Schalke, so they could be worth a small punt.
However, the last six encounters between these sides have seen Under 2.5 Goals and I’m expecting another tight affair at 8/10.
Augsburg 24/10 | Draw 26/10 | Bayer Leverkusen 1/1 (16:30)
Augsburg are coming off a 3-0 win away to Werder Bremen and will be determined to maintain that form. However, Bayer Leverkusen are unbeaten in their last five matches and should feel confident coming into this contest.
The last six meetings at Augsburg Arena between these sides have produced a total of 27 goals at an average of 4.5 per game.
It’s a safer bet to rather get on the Over 2.5 Goals market at 6/10.
Leipzig 5/10 | Draw 36/10 | Hannover 47/10 (16:30)
Following a run of four consecutive victories, title-challengers Leipzig fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of table-toppers Bayern Munich. They will look to get back on the band waggon this week against Hannover, who thrashed Borussia Dortmund 4-2 at home.
However, Leipzig are unbeaten at home with three wins from four matches, while Hannover have lacked consistency on the road.
Back the home team to come out on top.
Hamburg 27/20 | Draw 23/10 | Stuttgart 39/20 (16:30)
Hamburg come into this clash without a win in their last eight matches, with seven losses, including three consecutive defeats. Stuttgart are winless in their last 12 travels, as well as eight straight defeats.
Both teams will be in and around the relegation zone this season and I’m expecting a cagey but close matchup.
Get on the Under 2.5 Goals market at 15/20.
Borussia Dortmund 43/20 | Draw 28/10 | Bayern Munich 11/10 (19:30)
Saturday night will see Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich clash heads in what is undoubtedly the biggest match of the weekend! BVB are without a win in their last three matches, suffering two defeats, including a 4-2 thumping at Hannover last time out.
Bayern Munich made a slow start to the season but following the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti and the reappointment of Jupp Heynckes as the interim boss in charge, the Bavarians have been buzzing with three wins on the spin.
The reigning champions are on fire at the moment and I’m backing them to claim maximum points against the Black and Yellow army.
Sunday 5 November
Cologne 18/10 | Draw 5/2 | Hoffenheim 14/10 (16:30)
Cologne have been awful as they lie bottom of the pile after 10 matches, without a win, including eight losses and two draws, scoring just four goals and conceding 19 times. Hoffenheim are winless in their last four games, including a 3-1 home defeat against Monchengladbach last time out.
Cologne will be desperate to earn their first win of the season, while Hoffenheim will be looking to get back to winning ways.
An open game of football is expected and both teams are tipped to find the back of the net at 11/20.
Wolfsburg 21/20 | Draw 23/10 | Hertha Berlin 28/10 (19:00)
Wolfsburg have managed just one win from 10 matches but seven of those games have ended in a stalemate. Hertha Berlin earned a 2-1 win at home against Hamburg last time out and will be hoping to make it back-to-back wins here.
This one is a difficult one to call but given the fact that Wolfsburg have struggled to score goals at home and Hertha Berlin have battled to score goals on the road, a low scoring affair is on the cards.
Back the Under 2.5 Goals market at 13/20.
